chunkystyles,

I am just now dipping my toes into the Linux desktop life with a Bazzite dual boot. I’m very impressed so far. The Steam Deck finally won me over on the Idea of switching.

chunkystyles,

Not the best metaphor, because you can force yourself to like a food by continuing to eat it.

chunkystyles,

Pragmatically, she’s still going to vote for Trump. And that’s still a problem.

chunkystyles,

It’s not in the headline. Even though I did read the article, I did miss where that is stated. I had to go back to the article to find that.

chunkystyles,

I dunno, changing the path of a hurricane with a sharpie is pretty fucking funny, too.

chunkystyles,

Because Nintendo are disgustingly anti-consumer.

chunkystyles,

What is the reference I’m not getting here?

chunkystyles,

Any time I’ve been there it hasn’t felt any different than other airports. What about it is spooky?

chunkystyles,

Privatize the profits, socialize the losses.

chunkystyles,

I’m give them the benefit of the doubt. They do great work.

chunkystyles,

You’re ignoring a ton of stuff Valve has done. Look at what they’ve done for Linux gaming at a bare minimum.

If all you’re doing is buying games for Windows, Steam doesn’t offer much more than GOG. But if you’re playing those games, well, that’s a different story.

Not to mention that Steam lets you use keys bought from other platforms.

chunkystyles,

I don’t!

Wait, damn…

Uh, not me.

Shit.

chunkystyles,

Seems like there might be a common denominator here…

chunkystyles,

8 hours active battery life doesn’t sound good?

Sounds like a lot, to me.

chunkystyles,

It’s very different. I’ve only just created a party and watched some tutorials, but I have a general idea of what it’s going for, and it’s nearly the polar opposite of fortress mode.

chunkystyles,

R&D is very expensive. I have no idea what the margins on these devices are, but I imagine it’s a tough market.

chunkystyles,

The word you’re looking for is “pique” and it sounds like peak.

chunkystyles,

Yes, but there’s some context, there.

NJ is next door, and there’s a definite bias against NJ in PA. I’ve seen it personally.

I can’t speak for what extra context there may be in this case, though.

chunkystyles,

Tarn and Zach deserve all the best.

I know I don’t know them personally, but I believe they are wonderful people. Every time I see or read an interview of them, I’m endeared to then even more.

chunkystyles,

I had just recently looked to see if there were any community Hellgate: London servers still up, and there are.

Definitely interested in this project.

chunkystyles,

I don’t know anything about whether it is or isn’t profitable.

But in this current iteration of the capitalist system we live in, profit isn’t enough. Unlimited growth is the only metric. If you stop growing at double digit rates, then you’ve failed.

chunkystyles,

He defaults on the loans. If he owns a building, has a $500 M loan on it, and it gets sold via this process, he gets no money, unless the sale goes over what he owes for the judgement. But the loan is still in place and he still owes the $500 M.

chunkystyles,

If DF never existed, we would’ve missed out on so many amazing games it directly and indirectly inspired.

Biden uses feisty State of the Union to contrast with Trump, sell voters on a second term (apnews.com)

That was one of the more interesting SOTU addresses I’ve seen. Personally, I think he said most of the things that needed to be said, and he said them reasonably well. I’m sure he’s going to get some flack for attacking Trump directly (though not by name), but I was frankly glad to see it. Doing otherwise makes it seem...

chunkystyles,

Trump will literally result in more Gazans dead. Why do you want more Gazans to die?

chunkystyles,

No one is talking about Putin. You’re just changing the topic because you don’t know how to argue in good faith.

George Santos is running for Congress (www.semafor.com)

Tonight, I want to announce that I will be returning to the arena of politics and challenging Nick [LaLota] for the battle over #NY1,” Santos told Semafor in a statement. “I look forward to debating him on the issues and on his weak record as a Republican. The fight for our majority is imperative for the survival of the...

chunkystyles,

even a gacha pull.

I’m in agreement up to this point. The only gambling that feels good, the only gambling you really remember, is the gambling that pays off. And that’s part of what makes it so insidious.

Fixed price transactions, where you know exactly what you’re getting, are all OK in my book from a consumer perspective. Pay to win included even if that kind of thing makes the game itself bad.

So to put this in real terms: I think that Genshin Impact is worse from a consumer perspective than Star Citizen.

Gacha games are one of the few kinds of games I absolutely refuse to play.

chunkystyles,

I love the Dark Souls games. I use two moves in those games: swing big sword, dodge.

In Sekiro, there were many more moves I was forced to use, with precise timing, and split second reads to know which moves I needed to use. My aging brain cannot do that. So I didn’t enjoy Sekiro.

chunkystyles,

I can’t see any proof for these numbers. The link in the article didn’t say how they came to the conclusions they did.

chunkystyles,

The game is so unique, and its puzzles so novel, I don’t it could be replicated successfully.

chunkystyles,

I loved this thing as a kid oldschoolgamermagazine.com/crazy-controllers-the-…

Instead of three grips like a normal n64 controller, it had two. It combined the left and middle grips into one. So the d pad, analog stick, L, and Z buttons were all on one grip. I don’t know how the economics would hold up today, but they were great for me back then.

It also had turbo buttons, which is always nice.

chunkystyles,

Two Worlds is a gloriously bad game that is an absolute blast to play.

chunkystyles,

Fuck Epic. I will never use their platform unless they fundamentally change.

chunkystyles,

I played for around 150 hours and didn’t have crashing issues. What would you call endgame for Starfield?

chunkystyles,

I played on PC on the Steam version of the game. I only bothered with bases on my first playthrough. I don’t remember how long my first playthrough lasted.

chunkystyles,

I enjoyed Outer Worlds. It doesn’t hold a candle to Starfield.

chunkystyles,

I put 150 hours into it and loved it. Bethesda is such a giant, and I guess this game had such hype that it completely distorted reality.

Funny thing is, I had no hype for the game. I didn’t think I’d even play it from the early previews and announcements.

But after it came out and people figured out it followed the Bethesda formula and was “Fallout in space”, then I got interested. It had been long enough that I’d played a Bethesda game that it sounded like fun, and it was.

There are a lot of things I’d like to change and refine with Starfield. But it’s still a good game.

chunkystyles,

I loved it. The reality of this game is so distorted. Yes, it’s far from perfect. But in no way is it bad. Everyone has a right to their own opinion, and not everyone will enjoy it. But so many people would have you believe it’s an objectively bad game, and it isn’t.

chunkystyles,

I mean overall. I agree that parts of it are designed terribly.

chunkystyles,

It looks good. The bones of NMS are easy to see, but there’s enough new to make it exciting.

chunkystyles,

The illustrator did an amazing job conveying absolute sass.

chunkystyles,

Have you looked into the port? I played it in my Steam Deck earlier this year. It’s phenomenal.

Playing at 60fps with right stock camera controls makes it feel like a new game.
