d00ery,

It sounds like he needs mental help.

There’s no mention of a lawyer or any support, the guys just completely dropped himself in it. Perhaps a very low IQ or some sort of mental health problems that prison is really not going to help.

This is far from normal behaviour.

d00ery,

I honestly do not know how IQ and the ability to judge the future outcomes of ones actions tie together.

I do know that confessing to crimes, and then saying that he’ll try to commit those same offences upon release is not a very sensible idea if he values his freedom from prison. On the otherhand perhaps the guy thinks his being a martyr for the cause and his openness will encourage others, time will tell.

d00ery,

Rich family exploits their workers… suprise, suprise. I wonder just how many others they’ve exploited.

Nasty scummy people who should be in prison.

d00ery,

Although, I think safety matches are ones that will only strike on the rough side of the box, rather than a wall or chin stubble.

But I rather like the idea that they have matches that don’t burn all the way down. www.britannica.com/science/safety-match

d00ery,

About 728 students from the four universities have been reassigned to other school … the impact on private schools will be greater, considering the lack of students and the preference for public schools.

It’s 4 rather small private universities. Doesn’t seem like any great loss to me.

d00ery,

I hope it was Klingon, for the the glory of the empire.

‘It was like the wild west’: meet the First Nations guardians protecting Canada’s pristine shores (www.theguardian.com)

It’s Delaney Mack’s first time pulling crab traps and she is unsure what to do. Mack, the newest member of the Nuxalk Guardian Watchmen, has had months of training for the multifaceted job, which might on any given day include rescuing a kayaker, taking ocean samples or monitoring a logging operation. But winching crabs up...

d00ery,

I don’t know why he’s talking about the wild west when he’s clearly holding some sort of face hugging alien.

New Motherboard with loose CMOS Battery - Should I worry/return?

I’m currently waiting for all the components for my PC upgrade to arrive. Got the motherboard today and immediately upon opening, I noticed that the CMOS battery was not in its slot but just kind of next to it loose on top of the board. The slot seems fine, it seems to fit securely in there. No scratches on the board either....

d00ery,

Batteries are sometimes shipped with those little plastic tabs that prevent the connection (so the battery won’t drain whilst it’s sitting in the warehouse). Could they ship the battery as you found it because of that?

d00ery,

Good point. I haven’t bought a motherboard in a while but must admit I don’t remember ever having the CMOS battery separate.

d00ery,

Lol. I just found it in my works GitHub instance. I asked what files a ticket refers to and it just returned an error message.

d00ery,

The largest water company in the UK is going through severe issues thanks to privatisation. A company that uses public facilities (sewers, reservoirs) to operate a monopoly. www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-41152516

d00ery,

… I think they mean calcified, it’s how I feel at least.

d00ery,

I thought the right was worried about conspiracies and wonky countries that give power to friends and family instead of being a meritocracy where anyone, with graft and ability, can succeed.

d00ery,

It’s my clumsily worded statement, but having one’s daughter-in-law as co-chair of the political party you want to lead seems like nepotism to me!

Sort of thing that happens in a dictatorship.

Next he’ll be promoting his friends to the independent judiciary …

d00ery,

I think the guilty party could only be more obvious if he’d fallen out of a window…

d00ery,

Better Call Phoong! Does she operate from a back office in a nail salon?

(My very limited research shows Nguyen is a Vietnamese name, whilst the lawyer, Phoong, is ethnically Chinese)

d00ery,

But if you listen to economists (and Elon Musk), you might believe falling birthrates mean the sky is falling…We can maintain the economic status quo and continue to pursue infinite growth on a finite planet.

If the only way capitalism works is by continued growth, then it’s a broken system, the world is limited in its resources. (Unless we go to Mars and start the cycle again, slowly trashing the galaxy)

d00ery,

That’s very cool!

Where did you get the models and how did you make them?

d00ery,

Very impressive! The paint job goes a long way, along with the small alterations you’ve made.

I was expecting you to say you’d somehow exported the BG3 models and 3D printed them, that’s how close they looked to the original characters.

NVidia Shield For Streaming Steam Games Opinions?

I really get fatigued sitting in my chair playing steam games, I almost pulled the trigger on one of these the other day with the intent of installing moonlight, and sunshine to stream to my TV. Anyone have any opinions? I saw there’s 2 versions, does it make sense to get the pro version? Can I use my PS5 controller on it?...

d00ery,

Don’t forget moonlight also runs on the Raspberry Pi. github.com/…/Installing-Moonlight-Qt-on-Raspberry…

And I had it running on a PS Vita, though the experience wasn’t great and I never used it very much.

d00ery,

Point taken, I’ve updated the post to include the headline

d00ery, (edited )

I think the Ubisoft guy is pushing for subscriptions when a lot of people are not keen. See any of the recent articles about NatGeo pulling videos from Sony, etc etc.

As gamers grow comfortable in that aspect… you don’t lose your progress. If you resume your game at another time, your progress file is still there. That’s not been deleted. You don’t lose what you’ve built in the game or your engagement with the game. So it’s about feeling comfortable with not owning your game.

If I buy a game I want to be able to play whenever I feel like it.

I completed Fallout New Vegas last year, graphics were a bit dated but the game it still great.

My point is that I don’t trust Ubisoft to do what’s good for gamers.
