Huy Fong has had production issues for a while now that may have impacted the color, but not the flavor or the quality.

I’ve been told the Kikkoman Sriracha is a good substitute, but I haven’t personally tried it. I just wanted an excuse to drop the Kikkoman video:

Read as - “I’m still voting for Trump, I just don’t want people thinking I’m still voting for Trump.”

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

"I’m not sure the public would stand for it,” Trump said during a Fox News interview that aired Sunday. “I think it’d be tough for the public to take. At a certain point, there’s a breaking point.”

I don’t see that as inciting violence YET. We saw how Trump set it up for 1/6:

https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/876eadfa-fb1a-4586-99f8-9f15f37dde08.jpeg

So, if he starts calling for a mass protest at the courthouse on 7/11 with similar language? Yeah, I’d call that incitement.

Particularly if he has some kind of speech to the crowd before going in for sentencing, or, if he’s allowed to leave following sentencing.

That could all result in ANOTHER investigation and criminal indictment, oh, say, around 2027/2028 or so.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

I keep half expecting him to compare himself to legends:

“You know who else was sentenced to prison? Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela. Great men and I’m honored to serve with them.”

To which the response needs to be “Yeah, so did Hitler.”

Take it with a grain of salt since the description is coming from an MSNBC host.

But she’s right in that, when it comes to deciding sentencing, this will not do him any favors.

Maximum sentence is 4 years per count +$5,000 fine.

So he’ll likely get multiple 4 year sentences, served concurrently, and $5K x 34… $170,000 fine.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

Cohen was a first time offender and did 3 years for the same crime.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

Put him in a jail cell, post Secret Service outside the door. Problem solved. :)

I know, I know, it’s not that simple. Some poor bastard is going to have to make sure he doesn’t drop the soap in the shower.

But if Martha Stewart was kept safe, they can do it for Trump.

It might not be fair to call her a shit candidate, on paper she was a very good candidate, but her personality and willingness to take Michigan and Wisconsin for granted doomed her.

Anyone else with her credentials could have won.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

Again, look at the other people involved. Cohen got 3 years for his part in it, Alan Weisselberg, while not convicted for this, got 5 months for his role in another Trump ordered scheme.

So, yeah, it does happen for white collar crime. When you consider 34 counts and his lack of contrition, I can see the Judge hitting him with the max, which, granted, is only 4 years.

I don’t think you can say “letting in” is accurate.

On average in 2024 the US is detaining 41,500 migrants PER DAY.

hrw.org/…/rights-groups-oppose-president-bidens-e…

So today being the 154th day of the year… 6,391,000 people detained so far this year?

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

When people come in to claim asylum, yeah, that’s part of the process.

We intentionally made it so they had to cross the border to claim asylum, take them into custody, arrest and deport them if they have criminal records, then release the others following the process for asylum.

10,337 arrested year to date, compared to 15,267 in all of 2023, 12,028 in all of 2022, and 10,763 in 2021.

How does that compare to the Trump years?

2017 - 8,531
2018 - 6,698
2019 - 4,269
2020 - 2,438

Gun ownership by party:

statista.com/…/percentage-of-population-in-the-us…

48% of Republicans personally own a gun.
66% of Republicans live in a gun owning household.

20% and 31% on the Democratic side.

32% and 42% for Independents.

ballotpedia.org/Partisan_affiliations_of_register…

“number of registered voters by partisan affiliations in states that allow voters to register by party and report those totals publicly”

So only about 30 states + the US Virgin Islands, so these numbers will be low.

“45 million registered voters in these areas identified themselves as Democrats.”

45 * .2 = 9,000,000 Democratic gun owners, and 13,950,000 Democrats living in gun owning households.

“35.7 million registered voters identified themselves as Republicans”

35.7 * .48 = 17,136,000 Republican gun owners and 23,562,000 Republicans living in gun owning households.

“32.5 million registered voters identified themselves as independents”

32.5 * .32 = 10,400,000 Independent gun owners and 13,650,000 Independents living in gun owning households.

I mean, the constitution specifically outlines who is disqualified from voting, so the inherent assumption would be, if you aren’t disqualified, then you have the right to vote:

law.justia.com/constitution/kansas/art5.html

Article 5:

Justia US Law Kansas Law Kansas Constitution Article 5: Suffrage

Article 5: Suffrage

§ 1: Qualifications of electors. Every citizen of the United States who has attained the age of eighteen years and who resides in the voting area in which he or she seeks to vote shall be deemed a qualified elector. Laws of this state relating to voting for presidential electors and candidates for the office of president and vice-president of the United States shall comply with the laws of the United States relating thereto. A citizen of the United States, who is otherwise quali fied to vote in Kansas for presidential electors and candidates for the offices of president and vice-president of the United States may vote for such officers either in person or by absentee ballot notwithstanding the fact that such person may have becom e a nonresident of this state if his or her removal from this state occurs during a period in accordance with federal law next preceding such election. A person who is otherwise a qualified elector may vote in the voting area of his or her former residenc e either in person or by absentee ballot notwithstanding the fact that such person may have become a nonresident of such voting area during a period prescribed by law next preceding the election at which he or she seeks to vote, if his new residence is in another voting area in the state of Kansas.

§ 2: Disqualification to vote. The legislature may, by law, exclude persons from voting because of mental illness or commitment to a jail or penal institution. No person convicted of a felony under the laws of any state or of the United States, unless pardoned or restored to his civil rights, shall be qualified to vote.

§ 4: Proof of right to vote. . The legislature shall provide by law for proper proofs of the right of suffrage.

Looks like your post duplicated, removing this one.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

Yup. I heard this explanation:

Florida - If you’re convicted there, no voting for you.

New York - You can’t vote if you’re incarcerated.

Florida - If you’re a resident of Florida, and convicted in another state, the voting rules for that other state apply.

So unless Trump is in prison on election day, it looks like he’s good to vote.

I got so much crap, back in the 70s and 80s for telling teachers “No thank you, I don’t like milk.”

Answer should have been simple:

“Historically, the console version comes first, so lets take things one at a time. Get the console version out the door, deal with any bugs that arise, maybe an expansion or two, then we’ll announce the PC port, not before.”

Clinton fucked up three ways that cost her the election:

  1. She told coal workers in Ohio and West Virginia that she wanted to put them out of work. Which caught the ear of Pennsylvania which is, you know, in between Ohio and West Virginia.

Her attempt to walk it back was insincere and cost her PA.

  1. She completely and utterly failed to campaign in Michigan and Wisconsin, assuming she’d win them by default

Those three states cost her the election.
