Over the past 30 years, the American political landscape has been characterized by a growing divide between rural and urban voters, almost as if they’re on two opposing teams, according to Suzanne Mettler, the John L. Senior Professor of American Institutions in the College of Arts and Sciences (A&S)....
She doesn’t call herself a New Yorker or “resident of Manhattan” because legally she’s probably a Florida resident, because they have no income tax.
It doesn’t matter what she thinks. The People of New York, both as the prosecution and the jury, convicted him. She’s not a citizen of New York, so her opinion doesn’t matter. She knows this. She should pay her NY state and local taxes and stop being a freeloader if she wants to be heard.
Eh, it’s not that original. It’s not any more “vile” than anything Trump has said before. It will fade into the background and not move the needle for voters.
I think Trump is going to lose the 2024 election because he’s not interesting anymore. His former voters may vote for him, but the “undecided” voter who decides at the last minute will not.
You’re going to be blocking a lot of people. 75% of Americans who have heard of cryptocurrency are not confident in its safety and reliability. Those are majorly important things for any currency.
Cryptocurrency is a scam because no one backs it. There’s no guarantee major exchanges won’t fold overnight. It’s just “trust me bro” with your life savings.
All major currencies have a government backing them. That means they guarantee that you can (must) pay your taxes and any government fees in the local currency.
Which do you think will last longer? The US Government or a “trust me bro” crypto website? It’s that simple.
It’s both. Trying to erase actual issues people care about (race / gender / culture / sexual orientation) doesn’t work. You can’t just say “don’t worry about it”. Not all struggle is class struggle. People actually care about their culture.
Gangs in Haiti have destroyed schools, pharmacies and factories. But they have largely spared one infrastructure network: the country’s telecommunications grid....
They’re not. It’s better to be disk shaped for combat because you present a minimal cross section to an enemy “in front” of you. If you are the attacker, you can chose your attack to face the side of the enemy ship and minimize your own damage / maximize theirs.
A cube is not stealthy and equally easy to hit from all sides. It’s weird that the Borg use it because they don’t think up their own ideas; they just copy. And no other species uses cube shaped ships. This is a minor plot hole.
Houses are generally cookie cutter because they are easier to build that way. Spaceships are custom made because they are the only thing keeping your insides from boiling in space.
The United States has approved the $360 million sale of more than 1,000 small armed drones to Taiwan, as the self-ruled island claimed by China aims to strengthen its asymmetrical warfare abilities with an eye on successful tactics used on the battlefield in Ukraine....
Taiwan will receive 720 Switchblade missiles and accompanying fire control systems worth $60.2 million
That’s $84K per drone missile. Those are comparable to the ones you mentioned. Also, you quoted the internal Lancet price for Russia. Their export price is $35K (and I feel like you are going to have to wait a long time to get any).
The “Altius 600” is the $1 million one. It’s much heavier and has a bigger payload.
True but what the poster said is important: polls do not work well in close races because they don’t sample correctly. The average poll respondent is older, whiter, and more conservative than the average voter. So you end up with a skewed sample. Plus you sample so few of the other voters that you can’t make a guess as to what they think.
No younger people answer the phone for pollsters, so this is hard to fix. They are probably going to have to start paying people to answer surveys. I know I won’t answer them for 15 or 20 minutes for free.
Philippines soldiers used their “bare hands” to fight off Chinese coast guard personnel armed with swords, spears and knives in the disputed South China Sea, the country’s top military commander has said....
Does China realize that they don’t look tough by doing this? Do you see American Marines beating up Mexican Coast Guard members? No. Because that’s what an insecure country does.
What is China doing about Israel and Palestine? Nothing, because the current Chinese government only cares about advancing Chinese interests. They are transactional.
That guy is just repeating what he heard on the radio or from some drunk guy at a bar. He’s not putting any thoughts into it.
Besides what you mentioned, there are pre-nups, post-nups, trusts, and other complicated ways that rich families use to protect their assets from gold-diggers. Marriage is a legal contract and it can be modified with other legal contracts.
In a lot of cases, “trust fund kids” don’t even own their house or car. It’s all held in a trust so no one, not even them, can have it. If they divorce there’s nothing to split but some cash and whatever furniture or toys they own.
In practice, I believe the pre or post-nup gives some consideration (money) to the spouse who isn’t rich so they won’t sue. But it’s not 50/50 because the trust fund kid legally doesn’t own much.
The real answer is to display all the other hundreds of Jewish laws in the classroom too, in the “spirit of the law”. Have a class lesson on Jewish law and its interpretation. Send the kids home asking questions about why cheeseburgers are immoral.
There are no “time cops” because even existing in the past changes things. It’s impossible to change the past and return to “the present” that you know. It would be a completely different timeline even if you just observe.
Good point. It’s not news that “you learned” something. What is your conclusion?. What is your reasoning? If it’s been said before, we can just read that.
The 90-minute debate will include two commercial breaks, according to the network, and campaign staff may not interact with their candidate during that time....
Did you forget that Biden was in the Senate for decades? All they do is make speeches 99% of the time they are in the chamber.
Notice how Trump is only good in front of a friendly crowd. Biden has spoken publicly and privately in front of people who dislike him for most of his life. Biden is practicing now, and I suspect he will make Trump look like a fool.

Don’t trust their reporting on Qatar, but everything else is pretty good. While other networks rely on second hand info, Al Jazeera will send reporters into literal war zones to find out the truth.
This writer proposes very little in the way of actual policies. And this subject has been covered many times over, by better writers. They seem to be very inwardly focused on their own Ashkenazi experience and only mention the latest bogeyman (bogeyperson?) of transgender people.
Read W. E. B. DuBois’s book “The Souls of Black Folk”. In the introduction he describes well meaning liberals who don’t actually understand him like this:
they say, I know an excellent colored man in my town; or, I fought at Mechanicsville; or, Do not these Southern outrages make your blood boil? At these I smile, or am interested, or reduce the boiling to a simmer, as the occasion may require. To the real question, How does it feel to be a problem? I answer seldom a word.
LOS ANGELES – President Biden on Saturday night said he expects the winner of this year’s presidential election will likely have the chance to fill two vacancies on the Supreme Court – a decision he warned would be “one of the scariest parts” if his Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump, is successful in...
Obviously that’s a terrible idea, but what is stopping a dictator from doing that in the US? The Supreme Court is the arbiter of whether things are legal. Literally what is stopping a dictatorial president from killing or threatening the Justices and replacing them with cronies?

But it doesn’t work as well because you can block entire instances. These people self identify by choosing the instance so it’s easy to just block all posts and comments, even those from people you’ve never seen before.
In America, the coalitions are created before the election based on party. “Republicans” and “Democrats” need to be thought of as right and left wing coalitions.
Yes. One reason why new housing in the US is expensive is because there are way more regulations now than there were years ago. Houses now are much safer and built better. But that makes them more expensive.
Remember that all of those regulations are for a reason. Sometimes the reason is "contractors donated money to an elected official, but it’s usually a good result. It’s better to have higher quality than lower.
There’s already a “check” on the court. The President nominates them and Congress approves them. Also, just because the Supreme Court says something is unconstitutional doesn’t mean it won’t happen.
They have no enforcement mechanism. The President can execute laws how they interpret them. Congress can just pass slightly different versions of the same law. The Supreme Court is the weakest of the branches. People just need to fucking vote in their elections and the problem will solve itself.
If you go visit a small Republican town you will notice that people don’t usually protest, they just donate to politicians and vote. That’s how you win.
Trump Demands Biden Remove Ad of Him Calling Dead Soldiers ‘Suckers’ and ‘Losers’ - The former president said only a “psycho” or a “very stupid person” would’ve made such statements.
He’s not. He’s just an asshole. He can read social cues, he just doesn’t care. That’s why it can be tiring to deal with people with autism. They’re not assholes, but they act similarly.
The bag is empty. That’s what the expression “left holding the bag” means. You just end up with an empty bag because you were cheated out of everything else.
not military. People seem to forget Starfleet is just that.
The Enterprise is a “ship of exploration”, as they remind us every other episode. It has a ton of biological and astronomical labs on board. Their mission is:
to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no man / one has gone before
That’s the mission of a diplomatic vessel. They just also have weapons. It’s 100% not a military ship. Starfleet itself is repeatedly described as not a military organization.
The only “military” version of the Enterprise D is in the TNG episode where they encounter the Enterprise C that returns from the past. It’s completely different from the regular version, and the difference between the timelines is stark.
The Enterprise is a “ship of exploration” in a way that’s not possible today. You’re misunderstanding them. They’re like a explorer’s ship in the “Age of Exploration”, Captain Cook or Magellan or Christopher Columbus. Although their mission is slightly different: diplomacy vs. claiming territory.
All those ships were fast and had weapons too. Diplomacy requires weapons. Starfleet is clearly not a military. Even civilian ships today have “captains”, “first officers”, etc. Cruise ships have them. Even pirate ships had them. Rank and hierarchy is not exclusive to the Navy / military.
Ukraine on Sunday said its forces hit an ultra-modern Russian warplane stationed on an air base nearly 600 kilometers (370 miles) from the front lines, after its Western allies allowed Kyiv to use their weapons for limited strikes inside Russia....
You are still acting like there’s some change that Biden could make fix this. He can’t. This is a diplomatic apology, not a personal one. He’s saying “I’m sorry, this is the best America can do.” That’s an apology, whether you think it is or not. If it wasn’t, then countries would rarely ever apologize for things they can’t fix.
You’re also assuming that Zelenskyy doesn’t understand this, or would be insulted by this. You call it “useless”. As the leader of another democratic nation, Zelenskyy understands it very well and most likely receives it in the way it was intended.
Your comment is just wrong, and I expect an apology illustrating how you will change your ways.

Casu martzu[1] (Sardinian: [ˈkazu ˈmaɾtsu]; lit. ‘rotten/putrid cheese’), sometimes spelled casu marzu, and also called casu modde, casu cundídu and casu fràzigu in Sardinian, is a traditional Sardinian sheep milk cheese that contains live insect larvae (maggots).
