While this is true I would recommend choosing just a few of your favourite games from each console, in which case you can probably fit your all time fav games from every Nintendo console on a 256gb SD card, and probably a 32GB for all you faves pre Wii.
As someone who has an overwhelmingly large ROM library, I often find I have nothing to play because my library is too large.
Yeah, that’s a good point but I am very skeptical that Nintendo roms are going to be lost forever. Some of the popular sites are getting hit, but this has been happening for decades. Soon enough there will be a new site that makes it easy, and there will always be Usenet and private trackers that are far more robust.
Because their games are so good. There is no denying that Mario games are incredible platformers with super tight controls and any Zelda game is going to be a good adventure at the very least.
Unless I’m going on a really long trip I never bring carryon. Just my small backpack with enough clothes for the trip (plus 2 socks and underwear). I feel like I should be given a cheaper [e] ticket for that.
I don’t even have one word today but I was dealing with an issue at work all morning so I haven’t had time to keep trying. Surely someone beat it in under a minute again?...
I’ve heard a lot of people talk about vertical tabs but personally I don’t see the appeal. Can you explain to me what is desirable about vertical tabs?
Thanks for the response! I guess it’s still not for me. I often have several tabs from the same site or tabs from websites who’s favicon I don’t recognize so the text is relevant to me.
When I want more real estate I just go full screen with F11.
As for focusing a hidden address bar, doesn’t ctrl-L do the trick?
You’re not dumb you just haven’t needed that use case before.
Here’s an example of the last time JDownloader saved me. There was a website where people were posting archives of old skateboard videos. There were hundreds of links across dozens of pages in a forum. All links to sites like mega.
I was able to view all pages in one document and extracted all of the hundreds of links and put them in JDownloader. Over the course of the next several weeks JDownloader was able to manage those downloads without clogging my bandwidth. If a download failed it would notify me and I could retry it.
Have you ever needed to troubleshoot a software bug that only had discord as a place to look for help? It’s a complete disaster, and switching to Matrix, while better than discord in many ways, wouldn’t change the fact that it’s not good for software troubleshooting.
Chat programs are not ideal for software communities since so much of software discussion is built around troubleshooting. We should stop using discord and instead use forums with IRC channels built in. That way wikis can be built into the site, discussion about important topics is slower and well indexed, and the endless ranting/chatting can still be done but doesn’t take away from the topics that matter. What would be even better is if there were a fediverse style page that handled all of that, so you wouldn’t need multiple accounts fire various software packages.
I have been thinking about self-hosting my personal photos on my linux server. After the recent backdoor was detected I’m more hesitant to do so especially because i’m no security expert and don’t have the time and knowledge to audit my server. I’d say check it out anyways, if you’re into retro gaming and/or programming and/or hardware. This guy is great. He was re-making portal for N64 and his dev vlog was fantastic. Eventually valve and Nintendo forced him to take it down (mostly Nintendo) so he’s moving on to other things like this.
Sure the thumbnail is obnoxious but if that’s his livelihood and that’s what it takes to get clicks, meh. I’d rather judge the video by its content than the thumbnail.
I remember doing this in macOS, when I got my first SSD. I installed it and kept the os on the SSD and mapped my user directory to my hdd. It made upgrades and re-installs much easier, which was a plus because it was actually a hackintosh.
The problem is that’s basically what billionaires do, though. They take out loans with their shares as collateral. So on paper they have huge debt, but it’s minuscule compared to their wealth.
Ok but how are you supposed to do that when the most powerful and influential people in the world are the very people who rely on that method to maintain their power and influence?

Yeah. I don’t know why devs talk about features of a game that is years out. Bums me out to hear about Witcher 4, as a massive Witcher fan. Like, why are you hyping this game up? Do you not remember CP2077 release? Do they not remember NMS release?
Not exactly open world as there were distinct levels you would beat, and warp between.
American Wasteland was the first “open world” TH game. Followed by Proving Ground and Project 8. Although AW was basically the same as UG except the levels were separated by long ass hallways to give the effect that it was one world. No loading screens though!

Looking for a good, not too difficult, single player FPS that gets right into the action without too many story requirements, and is a lot of fun, and is not Borderlands (because I have played them all). EDIT: Forgot to mention I am looking for PS4, XBOX One X, or XBOX Series X. Thanks!
My favourite “lesson” I ever gave was in a grade 9 technology class. It was a pretty small class, about 10 kids. I split them up into two teams and made a competition. They chose their own teams — it ended up being boys vs girls. I never would have made it that way on my own but that’s how it worked out.
The school had a bunch of old, decommissioned PCs that were headed to the junk yard. I sorted through all of them to get two exact sets of working parts for the competition.
The goal of the competition was to recover a jpeg from one of the hard drives. Each team had a computer with the ram removed and two hard drives. One was blank and the other had the jpeg on it. They also had a Linux Mint installer on a usb stick.
I don’t remember exactly how I had set it up but it was points based, something about getting to different stages first. Like 5 points to be the team that turns the computer on first. One of the big ones was that they got an extra 10 points if they did the whole thing without a mouse.
I told the other classes about the competition and asked some other teachers if it would be okay for them to watch and cheer on. It ended up being the nerdiest and most exciting class ever. Students were literally cheering each team through a Linux install. One team got stuck and had to pull out the mouse. There was booing. It was so epic.
The girls won, being the first to recover the jpeg and they did it all without a mouse. It was so awesome. The jpeg was the meme about how would a dog wear pants.
It was about 5 years ago, my first year teaching. I really miss those days. I only teach math now, and while I like that, there was something magical about showing kids how fun computers can be.
From what I understand CDPR purchased the licensing for the Witcher IP a long time ago. At the time the Witcher was not popular outside of Poland so they didn’t have to pay very much. Since then they made the series really popular and the English translation brought it to a much wider market. So he felt like he wasn’t fairly compensated for his IP.
I think they’ve reached new agreements since then but it wasn’t easy for either party to reach agreement.
