pete_the_cat,

Google is helpful when you have questions 😉

It seems that you need to read up on the basics of Linux if you don’t know what a bash script is.

pete_the_cat,

Yeah, if you feel like waiting for an answer when you could easily do it yourself in two seconds.

pete_the_cat,

You just suck at searching for stuff apparently.

pete_the_cat,

Just because it’s becoming less useful doesn’t mean it’s useless. I search for stuff every day and can find the answer I’m looking for in under a few minutes.

pete_the_cat,

Apology accepted 🙂

Google gets a lot of hate, and they, as a company and as a search engine have gotten worse over the years, but they still do a lot of stuff right. I never took it personally, just giving an example.

pete_the_cat,

I love his wig, it’s like they’re trying to look British but just went to the dollar store.

pete_the_cat,

So, they’re giving it the Skyrim treatment. I think it’s received about 10 version updates since AE launched like 2 years ago. I ended up downloading a modlist that was 1.5.97 (the original version of Skyrim SE) and ended up sticking with it since it’s future proofed.

pete_the_cat,

They definitely are, I have been using 1.6 for a while, it’s just a pain in the ass to keep updating SKSE mods or those mods that support 1.6 but only older versions because the authors don’t make mods anymore.

pete_the_cat,

Just another day in America! Calais, France to Dover, England “only” 29 miles. So, yeah, that’s long in a tiny rubber boat, but it’s not like they’re crossing it at the widest point, which is 150 miles.

pete_the_cat,

“we’ll be mindful about placing ads in our games because we’re getting absolutely no revenue from new games we produce…which means they’ll be everywhere.”

pete_the_cat,

Shit, I haven’t played a NFS game since like PS2 haha

pete_the_cat,

We clearly need to take back control and hack the planet 😉

pete_the_cat,

What is painful about using KDE in Arch? Fedora supports KDE as well, just look up “Fedora KDE Respin” it’s just not the default DE.

Any Linux distro that you choose will almost always support any DE that you choose, the difference between distros isn’t that much anymore.

pete_the_cat,

It’s clickbait. There was an article like this a while ago about teens and suicide and they were like, “we have no idea why this is happening!”, even though for years people were saying social media was harming teens.

pete_the_cat,

I guess we should say that it’s an “intensifier”. If you get bullied at school, it no longer stays at school. If there’s gossip or someone does something embarrassing it’s no longer forgotten, but quickly plastered all over the Internet. I graduated high school in 2004, so I didn’t have to deal with any of this.

pete_the_cat,

It definitely has negative effects for everyone, but teens/tweens are the most susceptible to it.

pete_the_cat,

That’s unlikely to happen in every country where they’re popular. Microsoft can just be like “oh you’re gonna fine us? We’ll pull out and you guys will be completely fucked. Have fun!”

They got into the enterprise sector so early that most offices wouldn’t function without Microsoft products/support.

pete_the_cat,

And then from ALSA to PulseAudio haha

pete_the_cat,

Agreed, Wayland has a monumental task to do: replacing a 30+ year old windowing system.

pete_the_cat,

My favorite is the warning to not look at the screen, which you have to acknowledge to get it to go away.

pete_the_cat,

It’s unrelated to StackOverflow or Firefox I’m pretty sure, I got it too randomly.

pete_the_cat,

Didn’t the Jaguar have a gigantic controller with like 15-20 buttons?

pete_the_cat,

I was gonna say “that last line is hilarious because the game was a broken mess up on release” 🤣

pete_the_cat,

I’m still on Plasma5, so I can’t really help, but are you using Wayland or X11? I’d say switch to the other and see if it still happens.

pete_the_cat,

Also back when it was just cable there were like 10 different HBO channels, with slight name variations.

pete_the_cat,

They can be the same partition, they are for different purposes though. EFI holds the EFI binaries as the name implies, while /boot holds the initrd, kernel, and the bootloader config files.

If they are the same partition, /boot needs to be formatted as FAT32 and have EFI as a subdirectory. Otherwise they can be separate partitions, either way the partition that contains the EFI directory needs to be formatted as FAT32.

pete_the_cat,

Wikipedia has a good timeline of them, it’s been what I’ve been using when categorizing my ROMs.

pete_the_cat,

Something I and probably everyone else forgets is that Looney Tunes was made in the 1930s and 1940s, not the 1990s.

pete_the_cat,

Sarcasm is damn near impossible to pick up over text unless it’s extremely obvious.

pete_the_cat,

I agree, but I’ve done the same thing before and people have totally taken it seriously.

pete_the_cat,

There are definitely ridiculous people all throughout the world, the US doesn’t have a monopoly on them. We just have more people than like 95% of other countries (IIRC only China and India have more people) and those people happen to have wide access to tech, and money to do dumb shit like this.

pete_the_cat,

We love our “freedom”!

pete_the_cat, (edited )

It really messes with me that there’s a US state and also a country named Georgia (and there’s also South Georgia which is off the coast of Antarctica).

pete_the_cat,

Yeah. When I first heard about South Georgia I was confused because I wasn’t sure if they were referring to the southern part of the state or country… But it was neither. It’s an island about 1,000 miles off the coast of Antarctica.

pete_the_cat,

The other day I saw “Fuck” written in what looked to be shit on the side of a building, and I was tempted to post it.

pete_the_cat,

I bought it about 2 years after launch, played through the main story, and then kinda got bored with it because it’s just the same thing over and over again. I came back after the first major update, played it for a few weeks and then got bored again because it was mostly a “fixing things to how we wanted them to be”. I played after the next major update as well and while it did bring some new life back into the game, it’s still essentially just “build a base to put these few things in and collect resources so you can build more stuff” or “do these pointless side quests so that you can buy/build more stuff”.

pete_the_cat,

It probably has to do with the CoW nature of BTRFS compared to the others which don’t do CoW.

pete_the_cat,

Ah, BCacheFS is also a lot less of a clusterfuck then BTRFS is too
