TwilightVulpine, to gaming in Nintendo Switch 2 Release Date May Have Just Accidentally Been Revealed by...Gameshark - IGN

I'm curious what AI Shark is supposed to do. If it's just an LLM with hints that's not gonna "eclipse the original GameShark's triumphs tenfold". I'd still rather have a cheat tool than a glorified Clippy for walkthroughs.

I tried playing the first last year. Got 2 hours in and grew tired of it. The random encounters were too annoying.

Untitled4774, to games in PS5 Has Outsold Xbox Series X and S 3-to-1 in 2023, New Data Reveals

I’m lucky enough that I have all three of the consoles, but PlayStation first party games have kept that one in use a ton more and I have bought games at out near launch.

Game pass is great for filling in the gaps but none of it hits as hard.

Dang, sucks. Was excited to be King Shark in a game.

Insomniac, the dev team behind the wildly successful Spider-Man games just had a leak. In the leak, it’s discovered that they were strong-armed by Sony (who owns Insomniac) to downsize staff despite exceeding sales targets and hitting goals. They needed to downsize to help balance Sony’s books, who have acquired a slew of failing or underperforming studios.

Sony owns Studio A, and Studio B. Studio B have underperformed for the last few years, whilst Studio A has outperformed their targets. Because of the shortcomings in Studio B, Sony are now out of pocket, even accounting for the earnings of Studio A. Studio A are forced to eliminate staff roles to make up for Studio B’s mismanagement. A well oiled and well performing Studio have to butcher their teams to balance their parent entity’s books. It’s so fucking short sighted and stupid.

This isn’t just a Sony/Insomniac issue either, I guarantee this goes on throughout the industry whenever there’s a parent company. It’s just how it will always be in those circumstances.

isles,

Corporations shouldn’t be able to own other corporations.

gataloca,

That’s quite radical. But I agree, speculation is a big problem and dysfunctional.

haui_lemmy,

Having a brain is quite radical these days. Not wanting to pay for breathing is also quite radical.

Larian Studios made a beautiful game without microtransactions, battle passes, and other BS! I think not being on GamePass is quite alright as they deserve the full asking price for this wonderful game! I am going to buy Baldur's Gate 3 for my Xbox because I love the game so much (I also want to create a Charismatic Terror character...This gives me the excuse to do just that).

AceFuzzLord, to games in The Game Awards 2023 Winners: The Full List - IGN
  1. All those esport players have really shown how pathetic they are. I don’t care how good their reflexes are in a game like cod or whatever. If I were hiring at any company and saw someone with esports as part of their resume, you can assume that I’ve already “accidentally” lost it and that I “accidentally” started a fire in a nearby trash can. Needless to say, I don’t see any value in those “professional” wastes of space.
  2. Calling “Dave the Driver” an indie game is like whitewashing the term. Any game that is made and distributed by a company with a net worth of over $100k (over 1million times more in this case) is definitely not indie by any means whatsoever. Doesn’t matter if there is pixel art and nobody knows the company. Otherwise we could have any company, say Sintendo, release a new IP and claim it’s indie so long as they do it under a subsidiary.
jalatani,

Sure you may not care, but for the people that enjoy watching them play, something like this is well deserved for their dedication of understanding the gameplay. Just like chess, tennis, bobsledding or what have you. Your lack of tact and needless vitriol speak volumes of you as a person.
