Why does nobody here ever recommend Fedora to noobs?

I have tried Linux as a DD on and off for years but about a year ago I decided to commit to it no matter the cost. First with Mint, then Ubuntu and a few others sprinkled in briefly. Both are “mainstream” “beginner friendly” distros, right? I don’t want anything too advanced, right?...

I had a similar experience on my laptop. I tried Ubuntu which broke after trying to throw on Nvidia drivers (using the official docs). I tried Mint and Debian, both of which couldn’t detect my laptop’s wifi card (after hours of trying to fix - apparently a common issue but the fixes did not work for me!). I landed on Fedora, worked great. I’m now on EndeavourOS, but Fedora was the stepping stone I needed.

My desktop I built recently is Bazzite, which is Fedora based and I love it.

what's your current linux distro?

wanting to hop into the world of linux on a dual boot method (one of my favorite games unfortunately cannot be run on linux at all, and it’s a gacha. I don’t want to gamble with my account being banned, so I’m keeping windows for it specifically.) this’ll be my second go at it, I used Pop!_OS briefly but had some issues...

Bazzite Linux running KDE Plasma 6. It’s a wonderful distro based on Fedora 40 (I think, still kinda new) and it’s made for gaming.

I think Uncle Ben from Urban Rescue Ranch is worthy of the list. He’s an animal rehabber from Waco, TX who spent years turning a crack house, needle-filled property into a beautiful animal rehabilitation center. He frequently updates his YouTube channel with his day-to-day life, and the animals he has are fun (capybaras, kangaroos, rheas, etc.). He genuinely loves animals and loves his work and I’ve learned a lot from his channel.

I used to be a big hater of Crocs. Ugly, rubbery, cheap looking things that anyone should be ashamed of wearing.

I needed a new pair of shoes for a new little garden patio we did up. On a whim, I tried a pair of Crocs (with semi-ironic weed leaf print), and honestly? They’re pretty good shoes. I wear em when I do other various chores that might have me going outside.

    I agree that Yuzu did things like sell piracy, which put them squarely on Nintendo’s Ninja Radar. It’s unfortunate that they’re so litigious, even for projects not intended to make money.

    At my old job, they had an HR person that was not qualified to be an HR person, and she “accidentally” sent an Excel spreadsheet of everyone’s wages and salaries to the entire company email distro.

    1. She was not fired, but put on a suspension.
    2. Don’t know why she had an unsecured Excel file of important information like that.
