Any idea the best way for us AMD folk?

SatyrSack,

I’ve been off learning the big girl editing stuff. Harder than it sounds.

What video editor are you using?

SatyrSack,

I always felt kdenlive was really clunky at simply adding text to video, but it is super simple to use and can do a whole lot.

Olive feels nice. I have never heard of it until now. Why not jump straight into Resolve?

SatyrSack,

We’re obviously all thinking it, so I’m just going to say it. We’re going to have sex with each other, right? https://files.catbox.moe/syczku.png

SatyrSack,

How does Scarlet/Violet run with the latest updates? I assume things must be better than all the problems I heard about at launch.

SatyrSack,

Do Dennis Reynolds in his cutoffs next.

SatyrSack,

It officially only supports CentOS which doesnt even exist anymore lol.

It is supported on Rocky Linux.

Anyway, I assume this doesn’t make things any easier to get it to run on an AMD GPU, is that correct?

SatyrSack,

Wait, you do or do not just use Linux for music production?

SatyrSack,

Using yabridge?

SatyrSack,

Just know that Wine >9.4 is currently bugged and will not work with yabridge. There is a discussion on Github about installing 9.4 and holding it from updating.

SatyrSack,

My favorite new feature here is vertically swiping the spacebar for vertical cursor movement. Not as good as iOS’s spacebar cursor implementation, but a welcome improvement over that of any other Android keyboard I have tried.

SatyrSack,

Klingons are known to have redundant organs so that if one fails, the other continues to function as a backup.

SatyrSack,

Who is the guy on the right column with the Riker beard?

SatyrSack,

Low power usage, storage/memory expandability

SatyrSack,

Huh, I don’t think I’ve ever seen “Steam Deck” outright listed as a supported platform like that.

SatyrSack,

And to think I was reluctant to try it for ages because the name sounds like it’d be some neckbeardy distro.

When Linus Tech Tips did their month-long Linux challenge, they vetoed a viewer suggestion to use Fedora because they thought it was a “meme distro”.

I use Fedora btw

Windows 11 vs Ubuntu vs Fedora 39 vs Arch Linux - Speed Test! (youtu.be)

Even though different Linux distros are often fairly close in terms of real-life performance and all of them have a clear advantage over Windows in many use cases, we can’t reject the fact that Arch Linux has undoubtedly won the competition. And now I’m so glad to have another reason to proudly say “I use Arch btw”...

SatyrSack,

And possibly runs on all fours like a hound.

SatyrSack,

Some distributions that ship with KDE have that option set out of the box for you already.

SatyrSack,

Is it? That’s not listed as an option here alongside Endravour, Fedora, etc.

SatyrSack,

What they haven’t clarified is whether you’ll still be able to continue downloading dlc tracks that are already released.

They are just stopping their weekly DLC release schedule. No reason to think anything is going to happen to current DLC. Just nothing new going forward.

SatyrSack,

I think it would make more sense to look at the gap between one release and the announcement of the next game. Things aren’t looking pretty.

SatyrSack,

Privacy and anonymity are not the same thing.

SatyrSack,

I think they were commenting on your wild “I don’t think anyone could actually use 240fps” statement, not what you said about diminishing returns.

SatyrSack, (edited )

I love all the exaggerated future console names at the bottom, then PC is just PC.

SatyrSack,

Which is a ton of older (and still fun) games.

SatyrSack,

Proton does not work on macOS, just Linux.

SatyrSack,

AI images with messed up out-of-character positioning

Basically a Steam Deck Mini

SatyrSack,

From their GitHub:

Molly has unique features compared to Signal:

  • Data encryption at rest - Protect the database with passphrase encryption
  • Secure RAM wiper - Securely shred sensitive data from device memory
  • Automatic lock - Lock the app automatically under certain conditions
  • Multi-device support – Link multiple devices, including Android tablets, to a single account
  • Block unknown contacts - Block messages and calls from unknown senders for security and anti-spam
  • Contact deletion - Allows you to delete contacts and stop sharing your profile
  • Disappearing call history - Clear call notifications together with expiring messages
  • Debug logs are optional - Android logging can be disabled
  • Custom backup scheduling - Choose between a daily or weekly interval and the number of backups to retain
  • SOCKS proxy and Tor support - Tunnel app network traffic via proxy and Orbot

Besides that, you will find all the features of Signal plus some minor tweaks and improvements. As with Signal, SMS is not supported.

Molly is open-source just like Signal. But Signal uses Google’s proprietary software to provide some key features.

To support a 100% free and auditable app, Molly comes in two flavors: one with proprietary blobs like Signal and one without. They are called Molly and Molly-FOSS, respectively.

SatyrSack,

I wish they would make Wii Sports for standard controllers.
