I think you’ll have to explain to most of the audience what a clutch is

Several PA House Republicans boo officers who defended Capitol on Jan. 6 | Harry Dunn and Aquilino Gonell were invited to PA’s House of Representatives — but several GOP lawmakers booed and walked out (wapo.st)

“I heard some hissing and I saw about eight to 10 of my Republican colleagues walk out angrily as they were announced as police officers from the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6,” state Rep. Arvind Venkat (D) said in a phone interview Thursday. “I was shocked and appalled,” he added. According to Venkat, the commotion lasted...

while not alienating (too many) people on your flank.

You don’t have to worry about that if you consistently blame that flank for your losses. They won’t have a choice.

And if all the progressives in CA and NY and MA and WY and MT and UT vote for Biden and Trump still wins in the Electoral College all the liberals will blame them for the loss.

Democrats don’t appeal to progressives because we all live in high density areas and low-density areas define the government. It’s just like PotatoMcWhiskey exploiting the Diplomatic Favor trade hack in Civ; they’re at least attempting to play the actual game that we’re playing.

Also, I love the subtext of “Everyone should vote! [Democrat].” None of you would know that I just leave the ballot blank every year. Or if I did stupid write ins. But I voted, and that’s what’s important.

Semi_Hemi_Demigod,

I was one of those Nader voters you all hate so much. They very much blame progressives for Republican wins.

Which if you think about it, really works to the advantage of the rural people the most, to have a slave low-wage-earning population forced to live inside the city, so that whenever the rural people deign to grace them with their presence, their fast-food burgers are at maximum cheapiness.

There’s plenty of people earning slave wages in rural areas.

Semi_Hemi_Demigod,
@Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world avatar

I just wanted to counter the notion that people in rural areas (a) are all wealthy landowners and (b) want to go into a city at all. Some of the poorest people in America live in rural areas, and there’s not many of them that regularly travel multiple hours to get to a city.

If you had said it was suburban people I’d definitely agree. They’re the ones who are going into cities a lot more than rural folks, and they’re generally better off as it’s all single-family homes there. If the rural people are behind preventing a minimum wage increase it’s because they want to stem the depopulation from people moving to the city for better paying jobs.

Semi_Hemi_Demigod,

I’ve been voting for 24 years and have never seen this happen. They double down and that gets their voters even more fired up to vote.

Semi_Hemi_Demigod,
@Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world avatar

As someone with decades of experience in the tech industry we should stay as far away from electronic voting as possible. I know the sort of people who work on government systems and do not trust them or their code.

It’s less than 200 million votes, being counted and recounted in parallel by people all over the country. The problem of scale isn’t big enough to justify the security risks. I’m willing to wait a week to make sure the count is accurate and true with paper ballots.

Semi_Hemi_Demigod,
@Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world avatar

It really doesn’t matter how many square miles turn red, it’s the people who do the voting.

Inside of states for popular elections this is true. However, that giant area of red is over-represented at just about every level of government, from the electoral college to Congress to state legislatures.

A new poll shows trouble for Biden with young voters, especially among voters of color (www.npr.org)

It found that just one-third of all young Americans said they would back Biden if the election was held at the time the survey was conducted. The poll also reflects a virtual tie in the race. Biden leads former President Donald Trump by just two points, and 34% of respondents are currently backing a third-party candidate or said...

The fact that people block ozma when this is a perfectly valid political post about a very concerning topic would be hilarious if the consequences weren’t so dire.

They’ll ignore the canary in the coalmine and then wake up after Election Day and wonder what the fuck happened. Again.

Semi_Hemi_Demigod,
@Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world avatar

Why is it ozma’s responsibility to figure out how the Biden campaign should stop this? Aren’t they the adults in the room?

Semi_Hemi_Demigod,
@Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve seen a few people complain about how “everything is anti-Biden, so I blocked them.” Which is a bit like “That canary is too loud so I’m just gonna crank my airpods.” Also, neither of those links have any posts about ozma’s behavior.
