aulin,

I don’t know which one this is from, but god I love Don Rosa comics!

aulin,

It’s UWQHD. It’s higher than fullHD, so it is high def by definition.

aulin,

Where I’m from, we had a wealth tax, but when it was removed in 2007, it only accounted for 0.43 % of all taxes because it was too easy to avoid.

aulin,

Non-acronym initialisms are an exception. I wouldn’t pronounce the letters in German.

aulin,

there are examples like VIP where even though we could pronounce it we pronounce each letter individually.

This always seemed a bit weird to me. In Sweden we do pronounce that as a word. Vipp.

aulin,

And that’s totally fair, in my opinion. Speech has to flow in the language you speak, or you’ll sound like an idiot. As long as people don’t go around claiming to know and teaching others pronunciations for things that they themselves don’t pronounce the way that was intended.

aulin,

I got Elder Scrolls: Online last summer when it was free on Epic. I love it! After playing for six months, I knew I wanted more and was willing to pay, so I got the latest chapter bundle (which includes all older chapters) for €19.79 on Steam. Absolutely worth it. I’ve since received two other DLCs for free just for playing the game. The lore of TES is just so good, and the environments in ESO look beautiful. There’s so much story in the quests too, so even if it’s an MMO, I can play it exclusively as a single player game that just happens to have other people in it.

Edit: The game is 10 years old this year, and there is more free stuff because of the anniversary.

aulin,

Related. I actually thought it was a sun related thing, like a solar flare, in the comic. Turns out it was butterflies.

aulin,

I did the same. I haven’t switched back yet, but I’m very close. Audio doesn’t continue playback when connecting to Android Auto, the screen shows suggestions instead of the queue, and silence trimming is all-or-nothing. Also, and this is just personal preference, the UI isn’t as intuitive.

aulin,

Yellow. Sunburst yellow or Saab’s Monte Carlo yellow.

aulin,

I remember back in the day when people used Gentoo because it was more user friendly.

aulin,

Danishes are called Wienerbrød in Denmark.

aulin,

Getting Curse of Monkey Island flashbacks.

aulin,

You wouldn’t. You’d make new coffee. Not trying to be condescending. I literally wouldn’t reheat coffee because if it’s been standing long enough to get cold, it no longer tastes good.

aulin,

Ah, so it’s a sort of punishment for yourself for not drinking it while it was hot? You made it, so now by god you’ll drink it? Maybe invest in an insulated cup or thermos then. 😂

aulin,

Also you can play with a controller on pc in most cross platform games.

Yeah, but why would you want to? If you’re going to play with a controller, why not just play on console?

aulin,

Just like how most people playing Skyrim are playing without mods

Doubt.

Edit to expand: I honestly don’t think I would’ve played it if it wasn’t for mods. The interface is so blatantly consoley and clunky that every action takes way more effort than it needs to.

aulin,

If you only play that particular game with a controller, sure. My point was that if you’re a controller player, I’d think you’d have a better time on a console, since they and their games are made for it. Mouse and keyboard controls with key remapping are the biggest reason I play on PC.

aulin,

I didn’t know console games had subscription costs in ways the PC equivalents don’t. I’m a PC gamer myself, and wouldn’t buy a console precisely because it’s a unitasker. But the one task it does do well is couch gaming with a controller, and that’s not how I’d use a PC. Fair, if that’s someone’s thing, but I would just think a console was better for that usecase.
