XP actually wasn’t great on release, though I don’t know anybody who clung to ME, considering it was itself a huge dumpster fire. It wasn’t until SP1 hit that XP got really good.

Most of us were just riding out 98SE as long as we could until MS got their shit together. Some people had 2000, but it wasn’t really a consumer-class OS; it was meant more for the enterprise.

I’m not going to say that the rich are just as unhappy as the rest of us, because they’ll never know what it is to truly struggle. But take a look at Elon Musk; does he look happy to you? Dude bought and destroyed Twitter because people there wouldn’t stop making fun of him, and he still can’t stop them. He’s driven his daughter out of his life because he can’t accept she’s trans, which has only made him go even more full on transphobe and bleed over into every other bigoted thought under the sun. He just fucking gutted Tesla, his big pride and joy, because he couldn’t stand his “inferiors” talking back to him and trying to stop him from making terrible mistakes. All his victims are undoubtedly struggling more than he is, thanks largely to his capriciousness and evil, but he certainly doesn’t look happy to me.

And the funny thing is, he could be absolutely happy if he could let shit go. If I had his money, I wouldn’t even bother with all this petty shit; I’d hire people to manage the money, put as much of it into charity work as I could, find some tropical island somewhere, and spend the rest of my life sipping on margaritas and watching sunsets. But he can’t help himself. He’s incapable of letting go, which stops him from ever being happy.

Money can’t make you happy, but the lack of money can certainly make you unhappy.

It’s the latter that really seals it, IMHO. The Cybertruck is the most purely Elon vehicle to come out of Tesla, and the first since Elon went full mask-off. Buying it, at great personal expense, and driving it around is basically saying you approve of everything he’s doing.

Yeah, Mythbusters is fun and interesting, but don’t mistake it for a scientific study. IIRC, Adam Savage himself has said they couldn’t really apply the level of scientific rigor it would take to actually prove things due to the format of the show.

Still, it is food for thought.

I would disagree. How you dress, how you present, how you act, these are all things that speak without words. I would call those speech.

Truthfully, though, if I were coining the phrase, I would have said “freedom of expression” and “freedom of thought” instead of “freedom of speech” and “freedom of worship”. Both of those are broader categories that encapsulate the concepts FDR articulated. After all, what is worship but conceptualizing the deep thoughts about where the universe came from, and finding a community of like minded folks?
