I’m thinking it lets a tray run out, then you ask it to print on a certain size of paper, and in response it asks for more of that size paper. Then you know which exactly it’s out of. Good for an office too where you don’t know who printed what.
It should be said (beyond it being obvious) that I have Western biases:
If I perceived that countries where high heels were popular tended to infringe upon the rights of women at the same rate of countries where niqabs were popular, I may feel similarly about both. (I realize the planet has a poor track record on feminism.)
Also if high heels somehow came up over the face in a fashion that came across as dehumanizing to me, that’d make me more upset with the pain they cause too.
PS: I think it was Sam Harris who made a point about how “perhaps neither niqabs nor the Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Edition are the best things for women” (paraphrasing/butchering)
TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that a “tragic mistake” was made in an Israeli strike in the southern Gaza city of Rafah that set fire to a camp housing displaced Palestinians and, according to local officials, killed at least 45 people....
Question I’ve had (obviously Israeli government sucks but trying to understand Hamas):
Is there any sanity in Hamas’s calculus? Could any of them say “well, it’s been hard losing 35,000 of our people, BUT thanks to taking the hostages we … got a couple prisoners exchanged … and …”? Did Oct 7 do anything for Palestine besides getting world eyeballs on the region? The visibility seems a little useless given the death toll.
And will they have any domestic support after a certain number of casualties?
btw I could see myself being utterly irrational when backed into a corner for decades, just trying to make some sense of whether they even have a game plan
Is it in the same family? Yes. No one’s arguing that.
As someone who is a scientist who studies crows, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls jackdaws crows. If you want to be “specific” like you said, then you shouldn’t either. They’re not the same thing.
If you’re saying “crow family” you’re referring to the taxonomic grouping of Corvidae, which includes things from nutcrackers to blue jays to ravens.
So your reasoning for calling a jackdaw a crow is because random people “call the black ones crows?” Let’s get grackles and blackbirds in there, then, too.
Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It’s not one or the other, that’s not how taxonomy works. They’re both. A jackdaw is a jackdaw and a member of the crow family. But that’s not what you said. You said a jackdaw is a crow, which is not true unless you’re okay with calling all members of the crow family crows, which means you’d call blue jays, ravens, and other birds crows, too. Which you said you don’t.
Would you argue the public has elected officials who write policy and hire enforcers to govern arms, so we have a pathway to preventing illegal arms deals even if it’s not via the direct publication of details of original purchasers?
I can see tradeoffs here. I can imagine the security and harassment concern. I could also envision public benefit where our officials fail us but investigative reporters pick up the slack and shine light on specific problematic sales, leading to outcry and subsequently improved enforcement.
Perhaps illegal sales are a top NRA priority since these discussions involve some dangerous thinking from their perspective. If not, hope so, sounds win win.
