fmstrat,

It’s always focused on NYC. Really wish they would put some money into bike friendly roads in upstate cities and towns.

fmstrat,

Anyone have an Ente vs Immich comparison?

fmstrat,

I truly believe that anyone running for office should be able to pass a standardized history, economics, and sociology test. Nothing hard, just the basics.

fmstrat,

This is a pun related to statements made during a recorded session. They’re not actually making fun of her appearance, but her behavior related to calling out another’s appearance.

fmstrat,

Except its about impeaching Biden. So, you know, we agree with them on not following through on that one.

How I feel about this whole tirade is summed up well by Buck:

“ The Constitution says Congress shall count the votes. Doesn’t say Congress may overturn an election result. It doesn’t say Congress can do whatever the heck it wants with this election. ‘Shall count the votes,’ that’s what the Constitution says. In her CrossFit class maybe they didn’t cover that,” Buck told a local radio show

" And it also, the Constitution, also says that, you know, the impeachment of a president shall be based on treason, high crimes, and misdemeanors. It doesn’t say it’s a political exercise and we hope the Senate does the right thing."

fmstrat,

Uhhh. What?

fmstrat,

Long ago I built up car stereos. Mainly for fidelity, but that cane along with bass, not for bass or volume’s sake. But with the same behavior as you, I would never turn it up in a populated area, and it was in fact tuned for depth not volume.

I agree with OP, but not many of the negative replies. There is a time and place for all hobbies.

fmstrat,

That’s not how speakers work.

fmstrat,

First app I guess, but running your own instance does the same thing, right?

fmstrat,

I think they thought they were in r/apple

fmstrat,

Close. He wants them employed, but paid less since the job is easier.

fmstrat,

I could hear some guys in my neighborhood outside yesterday talking about how this won’t effect the election. One of them yelled out “Well at least the republicans are the ones with the guns!” Everyone just kinda got quiet and looked at him like he was an idiot.

Remember he’s not the only dangerous one. Every vote counts, and all of them are voting red.

fmstrat,

Separately, Salem is also suing its insurer for allegedly failing to cover the costs stemming from Andrews’ lawsuit.

Denying insurance since it was a grift. This is huge news and I’m surprised media isn’t all over it. What better way to discourage fraud than to show people they will be personally or professionally liable.

fmstrat,

Is it me, or is the headline misleading? This article doesnt challenge Alito’s timeline, it confirms it.

fmstrat,

But the neighbors had signs up before the flag, which they could claim it was in response to. Claim is of course the key word.

fmstrat,

You could also spin up a $5 a month VPS somewhere like Linode.

fmstrat,

Soon we’ll get the “buying votes” after the Gaza issues. While I think the administration is doing extra-terrible on that front, this was in motion way before all that bad PR.

fmstrat,

I’ve been wondering more and more if current GPT is more a side-show. Cool to look at, shows progress in tech, but more importantly sets you up as the people to build algorithms for military and surveillance use. Long-term high-margin contracts paid for by the public.

fmstrat,

I second Debian. It’s what Ubuntu should be, but can’t be, because Debian is already it.

fmstrat,

I would agree with this to an extent, but we are still talking i5 with 8-16GB of RAM. Gnome or KDE shouldn’t be an issue here (unless/those devilish Snaps are involved).

fmstrat,

But snaps!

Note: I do still use their systray, but that’s it.

Alternatives to Google Docs/sheets?

What are people using in place of Google docs/sheets/etc? I’m looking for a simple program that syncs with the cloud so I can access my documents on my different computers or my Android phone. I run Windows 10 (don’t crucify me). I use libre office for things that can stay on one computer, but for things like school notes,...

fmstrat,

OnlyOffice is fantastic. I selfhost with Nextcloud.

fmstrat,

I find this mentality most frequent in historical Rs who are left-leaning. Those who grew up on the right, and slowly came to terms with reality (I have personal and family experience here, so I am probably biased). While annoying, it can mean people are on the precipice of change if they find the right education.

fmstrat,

Given comment history, I’d like ro think it was just poorly phrased. But it’s also a quote from the article. Soooo not sure anymore.

fmstrat,

Or use strings if you want clean binary results. (Grep can probably do this, too)

Edit: Yes, with -b, also -R follows symlinks unlike -r

fmstrat,

Forejo, where you can use your github oauth login

fmstrat,

Is “activist” the right term here? Pretty sure this is criminal.

A GOP Texas school board member campaigned against schools indoctrinating kids. Then she read the curriculum. (www.texastribune.org)

Weeks after winning a school board seat in her deeply red Texas county, Courtney Gore immersed herself in the district’s curriculum, spending her nights and weekends poring over hundreds of pages of lesson plans that she had fanned out on the coffee table in her living room and even across her bed. She was searching for...

fmstrat,

Gore rushed to share the news with the hard-liners who had encouraged her to run for the seat. She expected them to be as relieved and excited as she had been. But she said they were indifferent, even dismissive, because “it didn’t fit the narrative that they were trying to push.”

So, in the spring of 2022, Gore went public with a series of Facebook posts. She told residents that her backers were using divisive rhetoric to manipulate the community’s emotions. They were interested not in improving public education but rather in sowing distrust, Gore said.

“I’m over the political agenda, hypocrisy bs,” Gore wrote. “I took part in it myself. I refuse to participate in it any longer. It’s not serving our party. We have to do better.”

Agreed.

fmstrat,

15 minutes ago I said “have my funeral at Disneyland so people can ride roller coasters after.” This is better.

fmstrat,

What browser engine does it use? And what happens if links are clicked? Can we specify which browser and profile is opened?

fmstrat,

Do you mean Webrunner, or Chromeless?

fmstrat,

Every reviewer who signed this should post a review, but of the business practices and why not to buy the game.

fmstrat,

Nope. They would be talking about the company not the game.

fmstrat,

“It’s a game. Don’t buy from them.”

fmstrat,

We were just talking about this yesterday. What good timing.

fmstrat,

Not always, the gradient might not be good for wheelchairs, and could cost more to level when there is a full budget.

Granted this does not appear to be the case here. Desire paths will always exist, though, as the ingenuity of a subset of the many will always outweigh the few.

fmstrat,

Now tell him you need another for mirrored backups 😆

fmstrat,

Drove into VT since the forecast looked better and waited out the clouds, got a pretty good view after 2200. No major dancing of lights, but colorful streaks and of course the camera picked up way more than could be seen.

fmstrat,

Exactly like this in VT

fmstrat,

Yea we had messages from Whales with about the same.

fmstrat,

No implants until you own it, and can control what interacts with it.

fmstrat,

Despite those ties, we continued investigating AdVon, and experienced zero interference from anyone at Recurrent. That said, AdVon’s cofounder responded to questions about this story by pointedly informing us of his business and personal connections with Recurrent’s CEO and the executive chairman of Recurrent’s board, in what felt like an effort to hamper our reporting by implying access to a corridor of power over our jobs. As you’re about to read: didn’t work.
