America is basically run by large corporations. I don’t see them just willingly changing course. We will get small wins here and there, but nothing drastic for a long time.
AI and robotics are here, more people are seeing their futures stolen. If by “pretty much forever” you mean “about 5-10 years” then I agree. I said the system will break, I didn’t say I see them changing course.
Capitalism naturally declines over time, that’s why America and other developed countries have expanded internationally via Imperialism in order to super-exploit the third world for super-profits. Capitalism cannot last forever, eventually third world countries will shake off US influence and the empire will crumble.
No, the actual advocates are calling for it’s decriminalization, which is a very, very different thing than mere legalization.
Legalization merely means that it becomes acceptable for the privileged while leaving enough law in place to allow the pig to still use it as a pretext to wage war on the marginalized - as is the case with the notorious “Swedish Model” when it comes to sex work.

Also: You have a unique definition of what legalization vs decriminalization means that I don’t think the majority of literate people would agree with.
Legalization implies decriminalization and more. Decriminalized but not legalized substances are still banned, but they just carry civil penalties instead of criminal ones (so like a small fine instead of a massive fine and/or jail time). With legalization, the substance is unbanned entirely and can be sold by legal businesses or private citizens on the legal market, though subject to whatever other regulations apply to it.
It won’t stop cops from harassing minorities or anyone they don’t like because they don’t need a reason to do so and will make up one to try to get away with it. But it will remove a common excuse to harass them.
In the entirety of my time using the internet, I have heard of the lack of freedom that Chinese citizens face regarding internet access. This has always been held up as indisputable evidence that the CCP is an authoritarian regime, and proof that if the CCP is willing to trample on some freedoms, it’s willing to trample on others.
Just as the U.S. Congress has (somewhat valid) concerns about a foreign entity holding so much sway over such a large platform, it could be stated that these objections are no different from what China claims. If it’s wrong for China to censor and ban platforms, its wrong for the U.S. to do so as well.
Is it concerning how much data is collected by Tik Tok? Yes. But without parroting what’s already been said, this bill comes nowhere close to addressing the key issues of data privacy that it claims to. Banning Tik Tok without addressing the egregious data collection of other platforms is nothing short of hypocracy.
