They do. I had this conversation the other day, and it led to Bill Gates trying to to basically monopolize farming. It was right before a five-hour meeting and so I forgot to research it at all after, but you have just reminded me.

Back on topic though, I can’t find seedless watermelons anywhere. I live in Jersey (New), and my local supermarket is and has been seedless for at least a decade. I can’t recall the last time I enjoyed watermelon with a seed. My presumption was that they’re stopping us from growing them at home. I’m sure it’s much more (or less) nuanced than that. I’m an idiot.

I just use credit for everything and hover in the 820s. Unless there’s some substantial discount for paying cash I just don’t see the point these days.

That being said, my wonderful credit score ain’t doing shit for me. It’s not like I get some magical super low interest rate. Maybe when things calm down it’ll be worth it, but then there will be some other reason not to borrow money.

I think the question is stupid, and I’m not sure why we need to bring the Swedes in. Why not just say Why do Americans Hate Taxes? You’ll get a variety of answers, some in the vein you’ve described.

Me, I live in Jersey (New), and we pay a lot in taxes. I’m pro tax, but at the same time I’m also critical about how my taxes are wasted, and I say that because they certainly are. So it’s a love hate relationship I guess. I say this just because I don’t think it’s fair to assume everyone is all hurr durr small government (when it’s convenient) nonsense. I just want smarter spending. And I live in a state that’s as blue as they come, I vote for them, but our mediocre transit system is on the brink of disaster (like, every election it seems), despite me sending a bunch of my money to NJ, as an example.

Yeah, Rick for Rick Astley, and “rolling” for? I figured it was created to be a sort of alliteration, and so I took a different tack and had them rhyme, spock-rocking, where rock is a form of music, spock is the character Leonard Nimoy is most known for. I’m inclined to believe you’re messing with me with that explanation, because it’s written with exactly the type of aloof humor I would’ve have used to explain the obvious to someone.

Sewer main leaks. Need to replace a 6 foot section of 8 inch line right in the middle of the road. Also need to replace the connection to the city main because the mess of baby wipes clogging it damaged it and the city says it’s unusable now. Effluent also damaged a gas line and the gas company says that needs to be replaced but they can work within the water company’s schedule. Gonna cost like 800 grand. Tell me about the community? Because that’s probably the insurance that the HOA procured who will cover the costs.

I’m talking about subdivisions of single-family homes that requested greater density and as a giveback to the municipality remain private rights-of-way and utilities in exchange for greater density. You want to build 100 homes on 1-acre lots but the municipality has 2-acre zoning. It’s a farm so there are no utilities and you’re building it all from scratch. Municipalities will say sure you can do greater density, but you’ll create an HOA for the maintenance of utilities and for the stormwater management BMPs you have on the property, and you’ll create an operations and maintenance manual for those BMPs, and you’ll bond with the municipality in the event you fail to maintain them. That’s what HOAs are literally for, not for deciding on housing color and if you can fly a flag.

Who’s paying for the maintenance? What happens in the event of an “act of God”? What is “the community” you speak of? I don’t know what this has to do with greed. Things cost money. You need to have a structure for how costs are levied amongst homeowners. I don’t get what is so difficult to understand. Would you prefer there just be a bunch of lawsuits when any little thing goes wrong?

Yes, of all the books of that ilk, Reacher just never resonated with me, and I feel like you may have helped me come to realize why. Jack Ryan (amongst others in Clancy books), Mitch Rapp, they all kind of gave a background on how the character got there, and even took time to show them training in some fashion. Jack Reacher just did.

They’re all smut for men though. And that’s okay.

I generally agree with you, but half a mil is peanuts and those aren’t the people I think we should be eating. I think something in the 5-10m range is where we should be taking 90% of it or something. But yeah, you need to pay leaders enough for the job to be worth doing, because the goodness of one’s heart doesn’t provide unfortunately.

Yeah, I’m just playing around, I lean toward the morbid because it’s a great way to cope with my rapidly approaching demise.

Being married with kids in my mid 30s is actually pretty freeing, all things considered. Yes, the kids are a gigantic burden, but I’m free of much of the social and societal words that exist from like 15-25 ±2 years. And we’re in peak nostalgia as our childhood and adolescent years seem to have come back in vogue, and I can say yeah, I was there.

I remember odd tidbits to this day, like Berlioz and col legno, and the inspiration for the Jaws theme coming from Dvorak. I just sat down with a guy who’s up in the leadership of a very large union. He says when a union member dies, they have a box that they bring to the funeral. A hand carved cedar box, and you open it up and there’s a bible. He’s an atheist, but it’s just a thing their union does. A black union member passed away, and he was tasked with bringing the box and a check to the funeral for the family. He looked in the box, and what’s in it? A black bible, I shit you not. Black Jesus and all.

So what I mean to say is it’s whatever you are. White people just broadcast their shit everywhere and I think we see more of it.

I say this being fully on both with Jesus being a brown dude. I also personally believe Jesus and Muhammad probably looked like.

Did the same with Gale. We were just chitchatting and all of a sudden my dialogue choices are essentially bang or do not bang. It was early in my first playthrough, I read zero about the game in an effort to maximize my experience, and so I was quite surprised. I understand the need for relationships in the party, and I love how far they took it, really helps with immersion.

We had a bag of cat food for our diabetic cat that had the Ziploc feature, and it is far and away the best bag-closing design there is. We ended up just dumping future foods into that bag. Cat has since passed, bag remains, an homage to her legacy.
