NakariLexfortaine,

My current dryer has an annoying tone for everything. Change mode? Gotta beep as you click passed each one! Oh, you wanna adjust the time and heat? We’ll make it chime with every increment instead of just when the button is pressed! Clothes done? Song of my people! Opened the door? Second verse!

NakariLexfortaine,

Is that a giant spoon I hear speeding its way over?

NakariLexfortaine,

Bowel Disruptor set to “Liquefy”.

Spider Jerusalem wins again.

NakariLexfortaine,

Slowly grinding my way through a Pokemon Red Professor Oaks Challenge(Yay, switch-training Magikarp…), and when my brains to the point of melting from that, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Kitsune Bladebound Magus, happily traipsing her fluffy way down wherever Desna may guide her.

May the Gods have mercy on the crusade she’s going to lead.

NakariLexfortaine,

I’ve gotten to the point that I look up if there’s a good reward for it. Like, does this run through the whole game and build up to at least a nice cutscene or piece of gear? Alright. Annoying, but doable.

A piece of golden shit? Never again. Never a-fucking-gain, I swear I had a faster time pulling KOS-MOS in XC2 than hunting down so many Koroks.

NakariLexfortaine,

Oh hell yeah, running and jumping around in Crackdown was an absolute blast. They had the exploration down perfectly, you really felt yourself get better at navigating, and the reward was just making it even better.

NakariLexfortaine,

Yeah, that seems odd. The FOX engine seemed rather solid, don’t see why they’re stepping away from it and not using this as a chance to push it onto the broader market more.

NakariLexfortaine,

I prefer something that still packs a punch, but in a somewhat smaller form factor.

That’s why when I face down demons from the planes beyond, I give 'em some hellfire straight outta China Lake.

NakariLexfortaine,

But that takes away all the subtlety of the midnight double feature.

NakariLexfortaine,

I know it’s a longshot, but given the sudden remaster of Tomba, and now Tomba 2 following behind…

Is someone prepping to actually do Tomba 3? It looks like the rights to the series went to Sony after Whoopee Camp closed down back in 2000, and what little work there was on the alpha of Tomba 3 was lost.

NakariLexfortaine,

I tried. It felt weird.

Fuck the rules, return to the caves away from society.

NakariLexfortaine,

“The hammers magic, and technically, he’s not wrong on the potential of your lifespan in either direction.

Do you really want to get into an argument on the finer points of this?”

NakariLexfortaine,

I know there’s the legal sense of they still own the rights, but at that point, it’s just abandonware in all but name. No one should be upset about someone downloading abandonware.

NakariLexfortaine,

Just please, if you’re going to eat it in the store, find a trashcan.

I’m not paid enough to give a flying fuck about you deciding to steal a 6-tender box, but I do have to clean said box off my donut window shelf, which is now greasy and smells like fried chicken. No one wants this. Put it in the goddamn trash. Crows have better manners.

Actually, fuck it, I encourage you to steal food if you need it. I bake myself shit all the time. We have a black market of food between a few sections in my store.

NakariLexfortaine,

“Do not spill blood upon hallowed ground” is about to be broken when Dollywood becomes the front line.

NakariLexfortaine,

That would take self-awareness.

They can’t handle that.

NakariLexfortaine,

Just so you know, if it’s been awhile, Crate came in and did a pretty big overhaul on Grim Dawn, and are prepping for the “final” expansion that’s supposed to come sometime this year.

Dodge roll mechanic, potions are now a recharge resource versus pickups that take item space, the next expansion is adding potion customization, prettied up the old world to be more in-line with the quality the previous two expansions brought, tons of little tweaks.

It’s not exactly a “whole new game” experience, but it’s much more smoothed out!

NakariLexfortaine,

Oh, I know this fun.

Creme cakes are generally part of my duties once every day or two. I have been asked what they are in so many ways.

“What’s a ‘cram’ cake?”

“Crem-me”

“Crime”

“Cree-me”

Sometimes it feels like they go out of their way to get their weird pronunciation out. We make our banana bread loaves using the same mix. The price label, the signage, the advertisements in the local paper all call it “banana bread”. It looks like a loaf of fucking banana bread.

I have been asked about “Dem 'nana crem cake things” so many times. What’s worse is, there’s an actual listing in our books for a banana creme cake. It’s not currently something we make, but it was at some point. Sometimes I don’t know if they’re just confused, or asking for a product we haven’t made in almost 20 years, because they’ll sometimes do that, too!

NakariLexfortaine,

If someone came in and actually did a Harvey Birdman, I’d probably give them a free cookie. My managers still don’t understand why my go-to recommendation for a new product is cookies on dowels. HAHA!

NakariLexfortaine,

Yet they will still never truly be Beyond Thunderdome.

NakariLexfortaine, (edited )

For anyone curious/looking to keep a copy just in case, GOG still has it listed and on sale for $3 US.

If you’ve never played it before, go. Now. Buy it on sale, hunt down an old physical copy, pirate it, just play it. There is a reason BG&E is so well loved, even today. It’s an absolute blast of a time.

ETA: Instead of just mentioning it, here’s the link.

NakariLexfortaine,

Started a Professor Oaks Challenge in Red. I’m still not out of the grind in Viridian Forest. So much grinding.

For those who don’t know, the challenge is to catch, and evolve, every possible pokemon line before each gym leader. Doing this in an OG game is pretty painful, and slow at the start.

Kinda have Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous burning in the back of my mind, though. That new DLC. Kinda wanna roll up a Bladebound Magus. Kinda getting tired of running in a straight line repeatedly.

NakariLexfortaine,

Yeah, I’m planning on pretty much grabbing one of the high levels I’ll have and just switch training Magi on the trainers in Mt. Moon before doing the Cerulean Catch-and-Grind, and having to add Abra into the mix for a bit.

Oh yeah, emulator with FF on with PKHex at my side to make some things a bit more gentle, but manually grinding, catching, and including Trades since I can just fake it and have a “legal” one.

NakariLexfortaine,

Sometimes, sometimes it’s just not paying attention.

I live in an area where people just let their dogs and cats roam(people just don’t really care, “oh, it’s a small Southern town, it’s just how we are!”), and they’re absolutely awful for running out at the last second. Even with me slowing to a crawl, I’ve almost had incidents where one decided last minute to turn direction into the road, and had to slam myself to a stop so I didn’t catch a tail/paw.

There’s a terrifying amount who either don’t slow, or somehow don’t notice the 3 bright white Great Pyrenees running full bore down the hill.

NakariLexfortaine,

Okay, so I have, in the worst case scenario, 5 turns for you to pull all 5 pieces of Exodia, The Forbidden One.

3/4 if you have the means to play Exodia, The True Forbidden One, and get it onto my field.

But Whimsicott is a grass type. This means if you delay to a 6 turn play, you’re walling anything Blue or otherwise Water related.

… Fuck it, Blue Eyes White Dragon.

NakariLexfortaine,

Nah, gimme your worst. I wanna see your cringiest, most embarrassing. I want less pixels than Pong. Make me hurt.

Huh… Maybe growing up in the “wild” internet era kinda fucked me up somewhere.

NakariLexfortaine,

So, it’s kinda easy, but also kinda difficult.

There’s multiple sub-series.

If you want a more traditional game, start with Shin Megami Tensei V, the newest of the mainline series. You’re generally safe just jumping in with the newest entry, they’re not exactly the most heavily connected plots. If you dig it, you can always give the older titles a try!

They’re turn-based RPGs(with a bit of a twist), but the main gimmick is that you can recruit enemies to come fight for you. Different personalities like different kinds of things, you have to work it out. You also can unlock ways to resummon and fuse demons to make more powerful demons, some of which are bosses(and deities. Like, Yaweh and Lucifer aren’t unfamiliar faces at times in the series).

SMT: Persona is a sub-series that shares some likeness to the mainline(same demons, demons becoming a form of party member, resummoning and fusing), but takes place in the “modern” world. They also focus heavily on forming bonds with your party mates. While not unfamiliar to the SMT series, the Persona titles really bring it to the forefront.

Start with 3, 4, or 5. FES(PS2)/The upcoming complete edition for the remake, Golden, and Royal are the “complete” versions of each title, respectively. This is becoming the norm of the series, a base version is released and then an updated version with extra story content is later released.

If you get really curious, SMT 1 and 2: Innocent Sin/Eternal Punishment(It’s two halves of the story for 2) aren’t unplayable, by any means, but I would recommend having a guide on hand. They’re much less polished than the later titles.

That’s really the best I can think of for the “default” SMT titles that most would recommend, but other side titles like the Digital Devil Saga games have their own fun twists on the weird world(s) of the SMT series. Just remember that they’re often some form of turn-based gameplay, and when dealing with earlier titles, notoriously difficult/grindy and occasionally obtuse. You’re meant to take advantage of every weakness, exploit every option, but it will be returned onto you. Luck plays a huge factor in a bloodless victory or a total party wipe, though careful planning can give you an edge.

NakariLexfortaine,

Story and presentation, really. Persona deals with heavy topics, but it’s framed in a more “slice of life” anime way. If you like managing your time with friends, working on “life skills”, and running dungeons, Persona is for you. Most of your problems are focused on the M.Cs main area.

SMT is more the fight for the world, deciding if you like this framework and want to work within it, or to break it(Where Yaweh and Lucifer can come in! You might fight alongside/against them depending on your choice and game).

NakariLexfortaine,

This is how more studios need to treat their modders. Sure, not every mod needs to be folded in to the next release(Though come on, Bethesda. Helmets of Hammerfell is right there. Don’t let modders take the glory like they did with Shlongs of Skyrim!), but as a source of inspiration for what players may want.

NakariLexfortaine,

Bah. I’ve felt worse looking in the mirror most mornings! Your attempts are nothing against the horrors my own mind may make!

NakariLexfortaine,

Jauwn is a treat, and he makes such cool intros. He adds a nice perspective to the crypto games market. Open about his views on what it’s used for, but still willing to give it an honest try and look at it as a game alongside everything else.

NakariLexfortaine,

Xraydius Visionus!

Wait, that’s see through skin. Whoops.

NakariLexfortaine,

Why do I feel like I know what happened to the first one?

NakariLexfortaine,

Who knew we were right all along back in middle school.

NakariLexfortaine,

Very popular song in certain circles.

You can find the Rammstein fan in any crowd by just yelling out “DU”. It’s the metalhead version of Marco Polo.

NakariLexfortaine,

Weirdly, Masc Voice and Femme Voice kinda just switch in and out. I have no clue if there’s a correlation, or if my brain is still just adjusting, because Femme is definitely the more dominant of the two, but I have to use Masc for work and such, still, vocally.

NakariLexfortaine,

It’s not much better, but sourdough demi-baguettes.

Still filling as fuck, too.

NakariLexfortaine,

As a fun reference:

There’s a set of cutscenes for one expansion, Heavensward, that became a meme in the community. The devs put a warning that the cutscenes would be so long, you might want to go get a drink and some snacks.

NakariLexfortaine,

Healing is a very interesting experience, for me. You need a whole new level of awareness, as you’re now watching what everyone is doing, and need them working in line to best do your job. Resource management is on a whole other level when you now have all of yours, the entire parties health and buffs, and whatever the boss has counting down.

It’s a very active style of play, especially once triage comes in. When shit hits the fan, you need to decide who you can even try to save, and if they’re worth saving. I’ve had times that I left a DPS on the ground because it was quicker to just start dumping all I had into burning down the boss, and grab 'em up after the fact.

Then comes in the fun of having multiple healers. You gotta work out who’s taking what chunk, if and when you need to cover each other, and half the time you might end up healing the wrong people, because at some point you stop seeing the names. It’s just health bars and cool downs. Nothing matters except keeping those bars just full enough.

NakariLexfortaine,

It takes the right kind of person. I don’t know what, exactly, is broken in us, but there’s just something about all the chaos and going “Yeah, I can turn this into order”. People thought I was kidding when I told them tanking was me taking a mental break. Hell yeah, it was, shout at things, make sure to use my squishes as fart-targets, and just shut my brain off and let all of the rage I’ve built up keeping idiots alive out by smashing this things face in.
