Bravely Default 3DS (lemmy.world)

I finally blew the dust off of my copy of Bravely Default for the 3ds… I’m only a few hours in but this might be the most beautiful jrpg I’ve played on this console. The story so far seems somewhat stereotypical, but the art is gorgeous and the gameplay has been amazing so far! Just wanted to share!

Pacmanlives,

Damn that game is 12 years old. I am getting old

Pacmanlives,

Even got those crayons from when you went out to dinner and they gave you a coloring book/mat

Pacmanlives,

Not sure where you have heard they are slower. Most of my experience has they are faster but I will say BSD kind of sucks on a laptop.

I would see what’s supported and then run something like Fluxbox as your WM

Pacmanlives,

Very excited to see the rest of this series. I still run some BSD box’s. I really really enjoy it. I really wish they would support Docker at this point but it’s complex and I get it with the developers they have. Jails still work so so well. I am on a box I think I installed end of FreeBSD 9 or 10 on and just keep upgrading. That’s probably get to the 10 year mark at this point. I will have to go and check. It’s such a smooth system to run really a dream. Wish more people tried it especially

Pacmanlives,

I didn’t expect watching Old Boy today and then seeing more or less of a real world thing. My partner was deeply disturbed by the movie. Their first time seeing it

Pacmanlives,

I bought the color changing Dark Brandon mug he is selling because it’s hilarious. Also mug is made in America incase your wondering

Pacmanlives,

I always said this is the answer for offering free education. Get a job after you’re done with school and then get a few years of real world experience. Then companies get people with training and experience right out the gate

Pacmanlives,

You update the mirror sorting? I remember that being a thing and it really speeds up the updates

Pacmanlives,

OpenSuse Tumbleweed, gets you on the bleeding edge and I have had 1 issue like 5 years ago where I got a broken xorg driver. Rolled back the patch using snapper/btrfs and was back in business. Upgraded like a week later and everything was fine. System is still chugging all these years later.

Also nothing wrong with running Debian Sid another distro I never ran into that many problems.

Pacmanlives,

From what I remember hardware support was weird with ME. If you had the right hardware you were golden. Also last release of MSDOS

Pacmanlives,

These cards have to be a joke right?!?!?

Pacmanlives,

I complained for Bernie and was big mad about the contested convention and how it’s screwed him. If we got Bernie we would not be in this situation

Pacmanlives,

I mean kind of depends. I got a soft layoff so worked 6 months more and got 3 months pay for the transfer to India.

I think best practices for highly secure environments is at the time of notice you lock the account and give that person 2 weeks off.

Most normal company’s it’s cool work till your last day, do your exit interview and we lock your account on Friday afternoon or Monday

Also you never want to change someone’s password on termination. What if their login is running some business critical tasks? Not best practices but I can tell you it happens a lot especially for reporting. If you lock the account you can always just reenable it and work to fix the issue

Pacmanlives,

Great distro! I ran Lunar Linux so Source Mages sister from the fork of Sorcerer Linux. Lunar I know is still going and updating. Need to drop into their IRC channel for support and what not. Wonder if Source Mage is still kicking. Amazing how great the bash scripts were to run it all. I feel like if they added binary support they would get a lot more traction

Pacmanlives,

Ask from a security and compliance perspective of I need to see an SBOM. See if it’s in that report

How to fix Korea's birthrate? Put girls in school earlier, controversial report argues (koreajoongangdaily.joins.com)

“Notably, Chang’s report claims that biological females develop earlier than males do, so requiring girls to enter school at younger ages will create classes in which the two sexes are of more equal maturity as they age. This, the author posits, makes it more likely that those classmates will be attracted to each other, and...

Pacmanlives,

They have done some but it’s not been enough to fix their issues

Pacmanlives,

Fuck yeah!!! The hardware is great for this headset just not many games on the PS5. Which has made me disappointed

Pacmanlives,

Oh god I smell and taste this also almost drown in it too

Pacmanlives,

Till windows updates and over writes your Lilo or Grub boot. Might be less of thing with non-mbr setups not sure have not dual booted in a long ass time

Pacmanlives,

It is definitely Zypper and there really is only one distro that uses it and mentioned above

How easy is it to switch back to windows?

I’m considering switching to linux but I’m not a computer savvy person, so I wanted to have the option to switch back to windows if unforeseen complications (I only have 1 pc). Is it just a download on usb and install? And what ways can I get the product key or “cleaner” debloated versions.

Pacmanlives, (edited )

So I will get some flack from this I am sure but my daily drivers since about 2004 are Linux I have always had a Mac laptop up to a few years ago in that time frame and Windows work laptops.

Honestly Windows 11 has a lot of nice creature features that KDE has had for a while and with WSL I can use a lot of my Linux commands. Can tell you how many times I have used egrep for things along with having native ssh built in. Powershell is a very powerful shell language especially if you want to go down the .Net rabbit hole but that’s not usually needed

Still my main desktop is Debian stable with distrobox for apps I need more modern versions of. But it’s not hard to switch back and forth

Pacmanlives,

I downloaded it not that long ago and worked great!

Pacmanlives,

You have to remember to talk to people at about a 3rd grade level in a lot of professions. Don’t assume people understand these basic things sadly

I have a level that is a tribute to The Stanley Parable in my game, here is my progress. Any feedback? (lemmy.world)

My game is called Do Not Press The Button (To Delete The Multiverse) and in it I have a multiverse called A Universe Where This Game Was Made By People With Actual talent and it’s a “What If” the Crow Crows Crows guy made my game. I think it’s turning out good. What do you think? Here is my Steam Page

Pacmanlives,

Needs either a rug or carpet with the right pattern from the movie

Pacmanlives,

Germany it’s more the Russian gas they get. Shit hit the fan for them when they invaded Ukraine. Germany was like fuuuuuuuu

Pacmanlives,

This is actually a cool job along with being needed in this day and age. Would rather have a president having a writer doing this then being on 4chan/Twitter trolling all day

Pacmanlives,

Any reason you can’t just do your normal backups? Should be easy enough to do an rsync if you don’t have a backup solution

Distributions intended for hardware diagnosis and other related utilities

Within the GNU/Linux ecosystem there are all kinds of tools to diagnose the system, or rather, to check the state of the hardware, but there are few distributions specifically designed to perform this task, or at least that I know of, because the only distribution I know that is intended to diagnose the computer, (Or at...

Pacmanlives,

Tots or hash browns also work in place of bread too. I take your from the MidWest too 🤣

Pacmanlives,

Man what a wild ride ReiserFS has been. I remember when it was the mainline FS in a lot of Linux distros. Good on Hans to right some wrongs. Prison has done some good on him

Pacmanlives,

It’s 2006 and the year of the Linux Desktop

linuxquestions.org/…/2006_The_Year_of_the_Linux_D…

Pacmanlives,

All jokes aside Linux has grown a lot since the. Just need to keep pumping out good releases, integration and reducing the jank that used to be a thing

Pacmanlives,

They are really some “torque” converters. Really know their way around a shaft if you know what I mean 😉

Pacmanlives,

🎵🎵🎵 Neck Cutter 🎵🎵🎵

And yes this is an ICP song…… being a teen in the late 90’s early 00’s be like that. And they put on a hell of a show youtu.be/8JsYdpsFVDU?si=tsNyGZTeczCN6_Zd

Pacmanlives,

I have played this before! The set of boards were made of wood and a door hinge and a white board up top for your guesses. Would be fun to 3D print the ships

Pacmanlives,

Well I guess eMacs has a real challenger these days but systems does everything poorly

Pacmanlives,

Hell yeah! Great choice choosing Tumbleweed!!! It’s been my go to for years

Pacmanlives,

I can tell you have climbed a few mountains before

Pressure canning food

So me and my dad were talking about pressure canning and how it’s very uncommon. I’ve never talked to anyone irl that pressure cans, maybe some water bath canning but that’s it. I wonder why it’s so uncommon? You can get a pressure canner for less than 150$ and it’s incredibly useful....

Pacmanlives,

I have an Instant Pot and love it. I use it daily and to the point I have had to replace some of the electronics that failed.

Presser Canning is a totally different beast. It’s hard to get your cans into the electric ones compared to the ones designed for canning. Also the amount of cans you can get into them. As someone who grew up using these. They are great for their use cases. Your food comes into harvest and now you have 50 lbs of corn or whatever crop now you need preservative it till next harvest in your cellar. The best jams and pickles I have ever had have been out of someone’s garden.
