I finally blew the dust off of my copy of Bravely Default for the 3ds… I’m only a few hours in but this might be the most beautiful jrpg I’ve played on this console. The story so far seems somewhat stereotypical, but the art is gorgeous and the gameplay has been amazing so far! Just wanted to share!
Very excited to see the rest of this series. I still run some BSD box’s. I really really enjoy it. I really wish they would support Docker at this point but it’s complex and I get it with the developers they have. Jails still work so so well. I am on a box I think I installed end of FreeBSD 9 or 10 on and just keep upgrading. That’s probably get to the 10 year mark at this point. I will have to go and check. It’s such a smooth system to run really a dream. Wish more people tried it especially
I didn’t expect watching Old Boy today and then seeing more or less of a real world thing. My partner was deeply disturbed by the movie. Their first time seeing it
I always said this is the answer for offering free education. Get a job after you’re done with school and then get a few years of real world experience. Then companies get people with training and experience right out the gate
OpenSuse Tumbleweed, gets you on the bleeding edge and I have had 1 issue like 5 years ago where I got a broken xorg driver. Rolled back the patch using snapper/btrfs and was back in business. Upgraded like a week later and everything was fine. System is still chugging all these years later.
Also nothing wrong with running Debian Sid another distro I never ran into that many problems.
I found a box of CD-Roms and floppy disks in my mum’s basement and damnit, I want to play them! I could use emulators, DosBox or VMs but it’s never quite the same as having the real thing, so between an eBay mobo and a box of old parts I managed to build my new gaming rig to cover 1990-2005....
I mean kind of depends. I got a soft layoff so worked 6 months more and got 3 months pay for the transfer to India.
I think best practices for highly secure environments is at the time of notice you lock the account and give that person 2 weeks off.
Most normal company’s it’s cool work till your last day, do your exit interview and we lock your account on Friday afternoon or Monday
Also you never want to change someone’s password on termination. What if their login is running some business critical tasks? Not best practices but I can tell you it happens a lot especially for reporting. If you lock the account you can always just reenable it and work to fix the issue
I tired Linux a few times in the past, but didn’t really start using seriously until 2019. I love poking around old OSs and distros, and I want to spin a few up in some VMs my next free evening....
Great distro! I ran Lunar Linux so Source Mages sister from the fork of Sorcerer Linux. Lunar I know is still going and updating. Need to drop into their IRC channel for support and what not. Wonder if Source Mage is still kicking. Amazing how great the bash scripts were to run it all. I feel like if they added binary support they would get a lot more traction

Till windows updates and over writes your Lilo or Grub boot. Might be less of thing with non-mbr setups not sure have not dual booted in a long ass time
I’m considering switching to linux but I’m not a computer savvy person, so I wanted to have the option to switch back to windows if unforeseen complications (I only have 1 pc). Is it just a download on usb and install? And what ways can I get the product key or “cleaner” debloated versions.
So I will get some flack from this I am sure but my daily drivers since about 2004 are Linux I have always had a Mac laptop up to a few years ago in that time frame and Windows work laptops.
Honestly Windows 11 has a lot of nice creature features that KDE has had for a while and with WSL I can use a lot of my Linux commands. Can tell you how many times I have used egrep for things along with having native ssh built in. Powershell is a very powerful shell language especially if you want to go down the .Net rabbit hole but that’s not usually needed
Still my main desktop is Debian stable with distrobox for apps I need more modern versions of. But it’s not hard to switch back and forth
I have a VPS, but no root access so I can’t use apt, or even read a lot of the system files. I would like to get jellyfin (or any media server, really) running on it. Jellyfin has a portable installation option, so I followed the instructions in the docs to install it from the .tar.gz....

Man what a wild ride ReiserFS has been. I remember when it was the mainline FS in a lot of Linux distros. Good on Hans to right some wrongs. Prison has done some good on him
All jokes aside Linux has grown a lot since the. Just need to keep pumping out good releases, integration and reducing the jank that used to be a thing
I have played this before! The set of boards were made of wood and a door hinge and a white board up top for your guesses. Would be fun to 3D print the ships
So me and my dad were talking about pressure canning and how it’s very uncommon. I’ve never talked to anyone irl that pressure cans, maybe some water bath canning but that’s it. I wonder why it’s so uncommon? You can get a pressure canner for less than 150$ and it’s incredibly useful....
I have an Instant Pot and love it. I use it daily and to the point I have had to replace some of the electronics that failed.
Presser Canning is a totally different beast. It’s hard to get your cans into the electric ones compared to the ones designed for canning. Also the amount of cans you can get into them. As someone who grew up using these. They are great for their use cases. Your food comes into harvest and now you have 50 lbs of corn or whatever crop now you need preservative it till next harvest in your cellar. The best jams and pickles I have ever had have been out of someone’s garden.
