glimse,

I know this is an unpopular opinion but I love YouTube and it really bums me out to have to drop it. My home account has been heavily curated over the past two decades and it’s pretty rare to see a video on my homepage from the shitty part of YouTube…now I’m getting ads and just closing the tab. I have a separate account just for listening to music on my work laptop and I’ve found a ton of new artists through it, too…not sure what I’m gonna do once it starts getting ads, too.

I have a Nebula subscription but only like 1/3 of the channels I watch are on there. And obviously none of the music

glimse,

Because Nebula pays more to the creators. The people who make the videos I watch didn’t make shit on YouTube

glimse,

People between college and retirement have jobs and may not be able to take the day off so they’re underrepresented at weekday protests

glimse,

Am I blind or is there no spacebar/enter keys?

glimse, (edited )

I played a lot of THSP2 on my PS2 PS1 and was horrified by the N64 version’s audio quality when I played it at a friend’s house

glimse,

Sorry I meant PS1! It played CD quality audio as well

If you fail to pull Gale through the portal, can you recruit him later?

I failed the strength check despite being a paladin and using inspiration. I never saw him again even after getting through nearly all of act 2. I’ve asked this before, maybe even in this community, but no one gave a concrete answer, likely because the game was still new.

glimse,

I missed both Gale and Astarion for several levels and thought the companions you got were RNG

glimse,

Coming soon to a western military near you…

China is playing catch up here

glimse,

“you can play as a bear or a wolf man”

Only shows pictures of noseless teenage girls

glimse,

“After 28 years” received a 6-minute standing ovation at Cannes

glimse,

Only reason I’m not outright dismissing this sequel is because Danny Boyle is directing it. I thought 28 Weeks Later fell short of the original but it was still enjoyable enough.

What are some eras of gaming that you've stopped feeling nostalgic for? (kbin.social)

As I've gotten older as a player, I have found myself dropping some eras of gaming that I used to be nostalgic for. One of them is the 8-bit era, the NES days. I have played some of the best that system had to offer and I will never say that system didn't have any good games....

glimse,

“All” is straight up wrong but I’d agree with you if you said most games pre-2016 don’t hold up

glimse,

At least a couple of those sites are mostly bot-written advertisements. RockPaperShotgun being the biggest offender…a shame because it has the best name

glimse,

Most people that say they give a shit about surround sound don’t have it set up correctly anyway lol

They’re lucky if the speakers are even in the right place…let alone tuned properly. Good AVRs come with a microphone and most of the takeover projects I did when I was in home AV had it sitting unopened in the box.

glimse,

Then I shall wait until 2025 to play it.

Supergiant Games is probably my favorite studio out there but I just can’t do early access anymore. If I play it now, I know I won’t go back when it’s released to see the stuff that changed…

glimse,

Oh I’m sure the game will be great! I just don’t want to “burn out” on it in early access and never go back like I have a tendency to do.

glimse,

It will definitely be great - I just won’t check back in if I play it now.

Supergiant has never made a game I didn’t like!

glimse,

I know, I know. Supergiant can’t miss so I’m positive I would love it…it’s just that I don’t ever replay games like this and I’d rather wait a year for the polished version than get my fix now.

Helicopter carrying Iran's President Raisi crashes, search under way (www.reuters.com)

DUBAI, May 19 (Reuters) - A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign minister crashed on Sunday as it was crossing mountain terrain in heavy fog, an Iranian official told Reuters, and rescuers were struggling to reach the site of the incident....

glimse,

The Israeli government isn’t exactly known for their subtly… UNLESS… They’ve deliberately been shit at hiding it before so this time everyone would assume it couldn’t have been them…Netanyahu is a stable genius playing 4D chess…!

glimse,

Hey writers, please shut the fuck up about the standing ovations already. When every movie gets one, it’s not good headline material.

(Not criticizing you, OP)

glimse,

Can’t watch the video but I know exactly what you are describing and I wholly agree. It’s fine with me if standing ovations are just part of the tradition…but I’m tired of the headlines about it. I want to hear about the actual reviews.

Deadlock. Next Valve game. Previously known as Neon Prime, Citadel. Competitive third person hero-based shooter. 6 vs 6 battling on huge map with 4 lanes. Usable abilities and items. Tower defense mechanics. Fantasy setting mixed with steampunk. Magicians, weird creatures and robots. Fast travel using floating rails, similar to...

glimse,

Trend?? Competitive shooters have been around forever and never went away. What are you talking about

glimse,

So that’s just a couple of games over the past decade.

And TF2 is definitely a class-based team shooter. So was Team Fortress Classic.

glimse,

What I’m saying is that zombie games, open world, and battle royals were big trends but class-based shooters have always been around. The uptick in titles after overwatch’s success happened for sure, but they were still too few and far between to really be a trend

glimse,

I had such high hopes for that game and was perfectly ok with it being a straight L4D clone with updated graphics. Unfortunately, they did not copy the parts of L4D that made it really fun and replayable.

I don’t know what they were thinking with that pvp mode. We played a round or two after beating the campaign and that was the last night my group played. Really disappointing.

glimse,

I actually kinda liked the deck system…the idea of it anyway. I didn’t love picking the cards while playing, though.

glimse,

Ever seen the game Vaudeville? It’s a fairly basic detective game but all the characters have their own LLM and AI voices. I bought it for the reason you described. I just had to see the technology in action and I can definitely see a future with generative text/voices in games.

It’s not perfect by any means but I think it’s a very cool approach to a detective game. There have been updates to it since I played that address most of the problems I had with it like characters forgetting past conversations and giving conflicting info.

glimse,

That’s pretty much Vaudeville. The only things you can do is click on locations and talk to people, each of whom has some bit of information you need to figure out.

It’s basically an experiment to see what works and what doesn’t with the idea. I appreciate that they kept the scope small (no quests, no WASD movement) and have been implementing changes as they discover the shortfalls (like the ones I’ve mentioned). If it ever does get released as a finished game, it’ll be more like a proof of concept for other games to build off of.

Israel orders people in more areas of Gaza's Rafah to evacuate (www.reuters.com)

Israel called on Saturday for Palestinians in more areas of Gaza’s southern city of Rafah to evacuate and head to what it calls an expanded humanitarian area in Al-Mawasi, in a further indication that the military is pressing ahead with its plans for a ground attack on Rafah....

glimse,

There is something to be said about the devs going to bat for the players, though. They stood up to the big bosses and won. Ain’t nobody praising Sony.

glimse,

I want to hate this because Activision sucks ass and CoD is a military recruitment game but my distaste for cashgrab remakes is holding me back.

I know a lot of CoD is like FIFA in that it’s the same game every release…I’m just so tired of remakes and the only way I’m giving these big studios money is if they make NEW games.

glimse,

I tried and just couldn’t get into it

glimse,

I guess I’d just rather a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 6 than a remake for the sake of nostalgia

glimse,

I feel kind of lame dying on this hill but I was going to finally buy this game this weekend and now I’m on the fence

glimse,

Yeah…not sure why I’d ever make a new PlayStation account to play a game on my PC…I haven’t had a console since the PS3 (and it was my roommate’s so no account)

glimse,

Please do not make me jump through extra hoops to play your games, devs.

Even Paradox didn’t make me create an account to play C:S and devs shouldn’t aim lower than Paradox lol

glimse,

Are you some kind of CEO? You’re implying that you should abandon your morals if it hurts your bottom line.

You wanted to insult the Turkish government but you just wound up making them sound awesome

glimse,

Good job demonstrating that you only started paying attention to the Israel/Palestine conflict last year lol

glimse,

I’ve been anti-jihadist since 2001 and anti-Hamas since I learned about them a few years ago so we have something in common.

However I’ve also been anti-Israeli government since I learned of their persistent oppression of the Palestinian people around the same time.

Please don’t conflate my opposition of one government with the support of another. And don’t confuse my hatred of a country’s government with a hatred of its citizens - I am not anti-Israeli.

glimse,

If they don’t stop killing kids, the US should make killing kids a bit more expensive for them!

The whole world needs to condemn the Israeli government…but they won’t

glimse,

Just because the killing wasn’t explicitly ordered by the Israeli government? Despite them being there because of the government? Despite targeting civilians being a recurring theme of this invasion?

Until Israel starts putting soldiers on trial, these are government-sponsored murders

glimse,

I don’t feel like they were expecting this to change a lot right now - it’s a stepping stone

bringing them one step closer to creating universal donor blood."

glimse,

Fuck off, Hamas. You’ll notice that the protests were anti-genocide and pro-PALESTINIAN, not pro-Hamas. Nobody wants you in power, we want freedom for the citizens you pretend to represent while flying private jets to Qatar.

Just because we hate the Israeli government doesn’t mean we support yours.

glimse,

Hamas and Iran weren’t celebrating the newest pro-Hamas post on Lemmy, though

glimse,

They need it for the same reason musk needs that 56 billion from Tesla

glimse,

Rich people just need more money, duh

glimse,

I’d take the Steam account for my nephew unless it’s full of violent/weird games that his parents would disapprove of lol

He’s just getting into PCs (using his dad’s now) and will be inheriting mine when I upgrade in the fall.
