Not to discredit BrahMos but its not a very fast missile compared to hypersonics. KInd of wish Pakistan had attempted to shoot the one that went awry to see if they could actually intercept it since it goes mach 3.

Also will be funny to see how the US actually reacts since BrahMos is half russian lol. They definitely didn’t like Turkey using russian made weapons.

Dammit I made it too late to the post to mention the absurd solar panel tariff that preceded this because “muh China bad”

It won’t be as bad as the domestic chip production, but this stuff is gonna get wasted just like the totally 100% legit for real this time national rail program 2 electric boogaloo.

What're some of the dumbest things you've done to yourself in Linux?

I’m working on a some materials for a class wherein I’ll be teaching some young, wide-eyed Windows nerds about Linux and we’re including a section we’re calling “foot guns”. Basically it’s ways you might shoot yourself in the foot while meddling with your newfound Linux powers....

I mean yeah we’re voting between a genocide funder or an insurrectionist on trial

Would be nice if we actually had multiple parties but no we are dedicated to the idea that we must always choose the lesser evil and expect that result to improve the election system.

If the DNC went through all the effort of defrauding Bernie to prevent him from running as their presidential candidate, then they sure as hell aren’t going to be passing laws that attempt to improve the election system like getting rid of the two party restrictions.

I find it appalling how many people who clearly see the problem with the idea of trickle down economics don’t see the problem with the idea of trickle down politics. Why would a candidate who’s clearly riding in on huge lobbying funds have any reason to listen to your demands.

Anyone remember that one Palestinian tv character Farfour the mouse?

And people made fun of him for being a Mickey Mouse ripoff Hamas propaganda character designed to incite hatred.

In episode 105 (aired June 22, 2007), Farfour is beaten to death during an interrogation by an Israeli who is trying to acquire the key and title to “Tel al-Rabi”, a fictional Palestinian settlement which was occupied by Israelis and renamed to Tel Aviv.

Seems pretty tame in comparison to getting orbitally nuked on a god damn playground.

Yeah except I still remember the BBC faking a translation of Musharraf to make him look like a religious lunatic when talking about nukes.

Also BBC repeatedly sucking up to Nawaz Sharif despite him squatting in England to avoid jail.

More like corporate propaganda than bias at that point, especially with NYT’s falsified rape article.

Iran launches drone attack against Israel as Biden rushes to White House (www.theguardian.com)

Iran said it launched dozens of drones and ballistic missiles towards Israel on Saturday in a major attack following days of acute tension building up in the region and warnings from the US and elsewhere about a wider conflict erupting....

mlg,
@mlg@lemmy.world avatar

I know this is not the time for this typa comment, but I’m really annoyed that what I said last week is proven true

Imma be completely honest and say that Iran probably won’t do anything except maybe throw some cruise missiles from afar that hit some random outpost or send a drone because they don’t want to risk anything.

I’d love to see a competent air force take on the IAF, but I don’t think anyone in the middle east actually has one besides Israel and the USA’s own bases.

This attack is over hyped and kinda lame. When India and Pakistan had beef in 2019, they had a whole ass air skirmish which ended with a captured pilot, fratricide’d helicopter, a crap ton of artillery barrages, and possibly a second aircraft shot down.

Regardless of the poor reasoning behind it, at least they had the guts to fight each other properly.

Iran is just sitting back and sending a swarm of drones that will probably fail to deal any damage proportional to their embassy attack, all the while escalating with Israel which gives both Israel and the USA a reason to send even more weapons and supplies and finish their job decimating Gaza.

Interesting (and poorly paraphrased) story about a successful Linux migration:

spoilerSeveral years ago someone made a post or cross-posted on r/sysadmin where OP (lead sysadmin) was in meeting with management and they complained about windows and the licensing costs. OP jokingly passed a comment about switching to Linux and management actually thought he was throwing out a real idea. Upon explaining the much lower cost due to FOSS and maybe only requiring a small contract for consulting/support, management actually agreed to his idea. He successfully transitioned the entire company to OpenSUSE which he determined was the best enterprise distro for desktop use. The other important part was how he handled the transition. iirc he got it going by first offering it to tech savvy departments who were ecstatic to get new stuff, so he lined it up with a hardware upgrade. Naturally the rest of the departments heard about it and also wanted the new stuff which locked them into using Linux. There were several holdouts clinging to Windows, but with the majority showing success, management forced them to change as well. For his use case, most of the employees were using web apps, so almost no additional desktop apps were required.

I still remember when they went after the R4 devs and it accomplished nothing because there were already at least 30 other flashcarts by that point with hundreds of R4 copies.

Trump allies launch secretive scheme to divide Biden support: report (www.msn.com)

Saw this today, and … well, I’m not going to be so forgiving to people suggesting to vote Third Party rather than vote for Biden. If Trump wants me to do something, and you want me to do that same something, that tells me you’re aligned with Trump.

mlg,
@mlg@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah man I’m sure this completely has do do with the evil doings of the republican party and not at all to do with BIden’s dissident constituents.

Trump wants me to do something, and you want me to do that same something, that tells me you’re aligned with Trump.

OP apparently never saw a venn diagram in his life…

I guess I’m a Trump supporter since I also want to vote 3rd party…

The attack is expected to come in the form of missile or drone strikes against Israeli government sites

I already said this phrase last week because I don’t expect Iran to actually escalate the situation or send actual assets like the air force because they too are just as incompetent at fighting as their arab nation neighbors.

I’d love to see a skilled airforce or military take on the IDF, but afaik that doesn’t exist around Israel besides the USA.

mlg,
@mlg@lemmy.world avatar

This happened so long ago that in that time Nawaz Sharif was exposed, charged, dq’d from prime minister, arrested, granted health leave, absconded for several years, waited for new PM to get toppled, got his panama charges repealed, returned to Pakistan, and helped get his brother elected in fraudulent elections.

All while probably continuing to launder his money exactly the same.

mlg,

Not that Israel will actually listen or Biden actually follow through with his request, but what exactly does he mean by “policy”?

I don’t think he’s ever once mentioned any actual consequences besides “threaten relations”

I’ve mentioned this before, but there’s actually a pop conspiracy theory that the intel Israel used during the 6 day war was actually given by Egypt’s own generals which is why they also allegedly refused to allow C&C to alert their airfields of the huge first wave attack that Jordan had detected for them.

Supposedly they had already formed an agreement to allow Israel to do their thing so they could sack Nasser. The plan technically backfired since Nasser was popular with support so he had them arrested.

Didn’t really help Egypt either way in the end because both sides were still just ill experienced military people with no real combat experience. Today the military still runs the country in the form of Sisi who is considered a joke by practically every foreign dignitary.

I guess they care about Palestine as much as the Pakistani army cares about Kashmir.

If Imran Khan sitting in jail can win at a fraudulent election run by the Pakistani army even after his party members were arrested and assasinated, surely the DNC can run a candidate who isn’t happy to fund a genocide so they will actually get enough votes to win.

Imagine trying to convince someone to vote between Hitler and Stalin. Like “Yeah I’ll take Hitler please because at least he won’t kill all of us equally like Stalin. He actually cares about germany because he’s building infrastructure.”

Biden couldn’t even hold on to his fake penny throw of sanctioning a whopping 7 Israeli settlers. He could at least pretend to care.

He still has time to redeem himself with quite literally one of the lowest bars you could ever have, but the DNC is happy losing if it means the USA stays peachy keen with AIPAC.

mlg,
@mlg@lemmy.world avatar

Biden doesn’t have a solution to a thousand year old conflict then you’re an idiot

Israel became a thing less than a 100 years ago, and this genocide started 6 months ago.

This statement is almost as idiotic as your assumption that anyone who disagrees is either brain dead or a Putin bot.

How low does one have to go to defend someone who has all the power to decide not to fund a genocide. He just approved a sale of 2000 MK84s and 500MK82s as if he wants Israel to finish the job.
