An interesting jab from someone who moved to Twitter-but-legally-distinct social network Bluesky.

It really should be. It’s pinned, but a lot of clients don’t show pinned posts properly.

Microsoft has tons of open source stuff and tons of support programs for open source projects.

There are plenty of reasons to criticize Microsoft, but FOSS isn’t one of them.

If they’re doing that, they’re playing a very long game.

We’re talking about open source software, not games.

I think you should be rotated 4 degrees and slightly off center.

The QR code leads to what looks to be a subdomain of the real CFA website that redirects to a closed Google Form

If your dog is big enough and the chocolate is mostly milk and white, it’ll probably be fine.

Don’t let your dog eat a box of chocolate though.

I have good news for you, unless you’re a mattress retailer.

My server is set to power on after losing and retaining power, but it’s not super reliable if the power only flickers (or flickers a lot in a short period of time), so I have a smart plug. If my server’s offline, I just toggle it and it’s back after a few minutes.

as much of a PSA as this is a meme lol. don’t seek dietary advice from randos on the internet. everyone is different and the advice you see from @bonerfart on !memes can be dangerous and should be taken with a grain of salt (metaphorically, not a dietary recommendation 😜). instead consider one or both of:...

NT 3.1 came out before 95, and isn’t a single version (Windows 11 is still Windows NT). If you include NT as a version, you can’t include 2000, XP, or anything after.

Time Machine (which is an excellent feature on macOS btw and isn’t advertised nearly enough by Apple), but Recall sounds more like an automatic clipboard history that saves more than just text and copied images, not something that lets you roll back to a previous state.

Contrary to the memes, Linux does actually sometimes try to stop you from shooting yourself in the foot

There’s a soft serve place near me that gives you huge servings. They’re not quite as big as in the picture, but if you get a large, you have to be very careful about it toppling over.

I take it to mean it’s playing into a fascist’s insecurities; it’s only supposed to sound judgy if you’re insecure about being a strongman’s sub.

If you have the right TV, the right streaming box, and the right receiver (if you use one), HDR looks fine, but a lot of TVs either don’t support HDR or have a really terrible HDR implementation. And then a lot of streaming services either have bad non-HDR video streams or just take the TV claiming HDR at face value and don’t give you a way to turn it off.

I don’t think it’s fair to expect everyone to extensively research and buy high-end TVs just so they can (literally) see a movie or show.

Isn’t it weird how long it took phone makers to catch onto the use-case of the camera flash being a flashlight?

wander1236,
@wander1236@sh.itjust.works avatar

I don’t know about the heat aspect, but third party flashlight apps are just using the camera API without showing you a viewfinder or exposing shutter controls.

Even the built-in flashlight toggles on Android are still just creating a camera session and enabling the flash.

To block third party flashlight apps, manufacturers would have to block third party camera apps too, or add in some sort of global time limit for the flash.

That doesn’t mean every employee and contractor is coming in to work 24/7.

A workweek is per-person, not per-company.
