I did it years ago. I never noticed any retaliation, but the lack of garage in my mailbox is noticeable. I swear some of those credit cards would send daily letters!
Sure, vendors who already have my information still send me things, but I just call them and get them to remove me from the list. Now the only thing that remains is the political junk mail you can do nothing about.
I’m not certain I want to know what this means. I kinda love the idea that this is just an idiom that is or was common. Is it modern? Ancient? Could be either, could be both!
I’ve never met anyone who does this. I’ve never HEARD of anyone who does this. I cannot think of any possible reason WHY anyone would want to do this....
Every station I have gone to with them has had the mute button labeled or at least functional. If they didn’t, I would never return.
The only time they are useful is when they offer a coupon for something I was already going to buy, but that happens so infrequently I’d rather have my attention back.
Could be very interesting. They did great with the remakes and if the same level of detail and passion could be applied with some new ideas and a modern view on game design, this could be incredible.
So long as it isn’t a terrible cash grab, I’m on board.
I could see saving presets, but having the computer assume would be like when you search for something online and it returns a bunch of results that are ALMOST what you want.
Maybe if you just say “Tea” the most common result is a T-shirt or a T pipe. It feels a lot like adding “buy” to a search to clarify you want to purchase something instead of researching it.
Having the computer intuitively know what you want when you request something would require a perfect understanding of your mind and how it operates. Now do that for every single person who may use the device. Yikes!
Regarding your proposal of “smashing dat ass”, I am amenable. Is there a good time/day in your schedule over the next week? I could likely find 5 minutes Tuesday evening or Friday morning this week or late next week excluding Thursday.
Oh, that thing that could never entice me into clicking on it because it was forced down my throat with every windows installation is going away? Huzzah!
I have recently played 3 games that have forced a lengthy, unskippable tutorial section that runs for several hours of the game, just to unlock the most basic functions like buying the items, customizing features, multiplayer, and even 2-player split screen modes....
I returned a game because it went right into tutorial and story in an alleged “open world” game. When I got out, I you too close to an NPC and back into the story I went! Riders Republic didn’t last 20 minutes with me.
