Of course my shit hole state would have not one, not two, but three horrible people vying for governor.

There’s a question that has always bothered me. Wtf do you do now that you have an obviously stolen, used catalytic converter? Find an unscrupulous junk yard? Take it to a pawn shop?

Plus oh-my-zsh and the powerline 10k theme - this is my go-to shell.

I cannot over state how much I love that “Legend of Zelda” finally stars Zelda, not to mention the art style… But why did they give her apparently no offensive capabilities? Why wouldn’t she be able to swing a sword? I want to see my Zelda kick ass, not summon monsters to fight for her.

pezhore,
@pezhore@lemmy.ml avatar

Yeah, and she can use boulders to block attacks - but it looks like the main method of attacking will be using echos of baddies. ¯\(ツ)/¯

This game was easily one of my favorites to playthrough blind, then go back and do a 100% achievement run. “Choices matter” actually applies as main characters can just die, and their absence completely changes the outcome of the game.

It was a delight.

I wish someone would actually drop the full leak somewhere. It would be interesting to read this myself.

Here’s a recommendations for what I use in my three node Proxmox homelab:

TCNEWCL KVM Switch 4 Port, HDMI KVM Switcher www.amazon.com/dp/B089ZW5PW5

It would give you some room to grow, supports HDMI for video, and comes with a fancy remote clicker to swap between PCs. I have a mech keyboard plugged in along with a mouse (although the mouse isn’t super useful for my applications.

How can this possibly stay available given Nintendo’s lawyers? I feel like I need to set up a mirror in my homelab.

Edit: answering my own question - looks like the actual game files aren’t provided, so that should hopefully give the project a pass.

pezhore,
@pezhore@lemmy.ml avatar

No, no - if you owed 100 million, you’re probably getting some agreement for a lesser amount - those lawyers will figure it out.

If you owed under 100 thousand, you’re getting your wages garnished.

Why Your VPN May Not Be As Secure As It Claims (krebsonsecurity.com)

Virtual private networking (VPN) companies market their services as a way to prevent anyone from snooping on your Internet usage. But new research suggests this is a dangerous assumption when connecting to a VPN via an untrusted network, because attackers on the same network could force a target’s traffic off of the protection...

I think that mitigation requires two things for it to work.

  1. You need to use a a Type 2 hypervisor (like Virtualbox, VMware Workstation/Fusion).
  2. That VM needs to be configured in NAT mode.

The two primary ways you can configure a network for a local virtual machine are NAT and Bridged.

Bridged mode places your VM effectively on the same network as your host OS, meaning that any DHCP server that exists on your network (rogue or otherwise) will give your virtual machine and IP.

In NAT mode, the virtualization platform itself includes a DHCP server to dole out IPs, and handle the routing between your virtual machine and your host OS’s network.

The thought process is that if you trust your laptop, the DHCP address handed out for NAT mode will not have the VPN breaking DHCP option and your VPN inside the VM will not have it’s route table screwed with.

Don’t forget - it’s also a privacy issue! Ignoring the very valid healthcare reason for allowing abortion, the decision to have a medical procedure should be between a patient and their care provider - the government doesn’t need to (and shouldn’t) pole their nose into it.

I’m nearing the end of Infinite Wealth and I am finding every reason to keep with Ichiban instead of progressing the story.

Every menu item in Hawaii? Check. All companions to 100% bond? Check. Every table/meal conversation unlocked? Check.

Now I’m trying to collect enough materials to get the ultimate weapon for each job and do my best at getting A rankings on every mini game.

Are you looking for a Windows, server, replacement or desktop replacement? Your experience will differ depending on which one you’re trying to replace.

For instance, if you’re trying to replace Windows active directory services with a single Linux server, might have a bad time. I’m in the process of migrating from AD to FreeIPA, PowerDNS, and isc-dhcp (or something similar for DHCP).

pezhore,
@pezhore@lemmy.ml avatar

Oh, in that case you have a much easier job ahead of you, haha.

All of our Linux servers are running Ubuntu, except the FreeIPA system that runs a Redhat derivative.

pezhore,
@pezhore@lemmy.ml avatar

Hrm, I can’t find that on my FDroid install. Anyone else having that same issue?

pezhore,
@pezhore@lemmy.ml avatar

Ahh that did it. Well, more accurately it led me to the problem - I had installed fdroid on a now deleted alternate profile. Uninstall and reinstall fixed it.

Cheers!

Reproducing a Microsoft corporate environment on Linux.

Most companies I’ve worked at where employees had a Microsoft work computers. They were under heavy control, even with admin privileges. I was wondering, for a corporate environment, how employees’Linux desktops could be kept under control in a similar way. What would be an open source or Linux based alternative to the...

Fun fact (that I just took advantage of in a CTF), sudo can also limit command line arguments. If you only want a user to restart a service but not stop it, you can restrict sudo to only

<span style="color:#323232;">systemctl restart mysvc.service
</span>

I remember reading an interesting take on the 20TB drives when they came out - the impact of drive failure skyrockets with large density drives.

Back with 2TB drives, you could fit 60-70 Blu-ray rips. If that drive dies (without backups/RAID), you’ll be hurting but not as bad as if you have a filled 20TB with 600-700 rips. Plus, even with RAID, the rebuild time increases with density, and for 20TB drives you could be waiting a week for rebuild.

I like the idea of higher density drives, but in my opinion they only really make sense in large drive arrays where you can spread the data over dozens and dozens of replicated drives.

Mine was Skies of Arcadia - I know it also came out on GameCube, but I first played it on the Dreamcast. It was also (somehow) my first experience with a jrpg.

I’ve been converted to the ortholinear layout since my EOTW Preonic, now I have that plus a Planck and a second hand Drop Preonic - but I’m interested in going to a split kb next.

This looks awesome, but may I ask - what function does the dual rollers serve? I get rotary encoders mapping to volume, but I don’t know what two would be used for.

TL;DR - RedHat is going to wall off all their code/packages behind a paywall meaning the only way to use RedHat is with a paid subscription.
