Greetings, flaming fellas of the Fediverse, we are halfway through #SteamNextFest , but that's no reason to be idle, for surprises at every corner and every genre awaits
I’ve been playing Enotria: The Last Song. So far seems like a solid souls like but it has wicked performance issues right now. I’m really digging the vibe of the main demo city but I’m barely hitting 40fps on low settings with an RTX 3070ti
They have the paper lids in my city and they’re really not bad. I hate Tim Horton’s but I was actually impressed by the lids. They definitely hold together well
I tried a couple license finders and I even looked into the OSI database but I could not find a license that works pretty much like agpl but requiring payment (combined 1% of revenue per month, spread evenly over all FOSS software, if applicable) if one of these is true:...
From my experience, companies would rather just pay for a commercial license. Anything abnormal gets trashed and banned in my company.
I think it’s more easy to understand “pay exactly this amount to use commercially” than the legal and accounting teams trying to work out how much to pay when you say 1% of their revenue to FOSS software. You can always donate the profits anyway
Haha I guess it’s also an easy tag to apply to nearly anything. Slightly dark theme? Horror. Mildly upsetting? Horror. Involves a monster of some kind? Also horror.
It will be possible to configure COSMIC to look like Unity out of the box. There’s only a few panel applets that need to be implemented to make the experience 1:1.
It is weird. The left leaning Canadian subreddit (r/onguardforthee) is generally pro Palestine but my city’s subreddit is generally pro Israel. I’ve been watching my city’s subreddit move right politically quite quickly.
Something I’ve noticed is that reddit as a whole seems to have gotten a lot more right wing since the whole API stuff. I’m not sure if it’s actually because of users leaving, or if moderation took a huge hit and it’s kind of snow balling into hateful commenting becoming normal.
You’d think so, but my city’s subreddit used to advocate for transit, better support for the homeless, healthcare etc and generally be very left leaning. They still are some of the time, but I’ve started seeing a lot of upvoted comments very literally calling for the implementation of drug use policies (ie death) from places like Saudi Arabia or the Philippines.
I guess it’s possible it’s part of the Western move right ward but it’s jarring. I get it, the city’s drug problem is at its current worst, but advocating for the actual murder of users is insane and I can’t believe comments like that are at the top of threads. Even just a year ago those comments would be downvoted out of existence
Was surprised at this since it’s not connected to Nintendo in any way, but it turns out it’s not actually related to the Yuzu news:
This doesn’t come as a surprise for many, though, as the AetherSX2 emulator halted development entirely back in 2023, with the developer specifically mentioning the “neverending impersonating, complaints, demands, and now death threats”. Although, it took almost a year for the actual emulator app to be taken down from the Play Store, following the discontinuation of the project
On April 8, 2024, a spectacular and rare celestial event is set to unfold over Canada, the United States and Mexico – a total solar eclipse. As the Moon aligns perfectly between Earth and the Sun, temporary darkness will sweep across parts of the country, captivating countless spectators.
Today i was doing the daily ritual of looking at distrowatch. Todays reveiw section was about a termal called warp, it has built in AI for recomendations and correction for commands (like zhs and nushell). You can also as a chatbot for help. Fish’s autocomplete is enough for me. I do like having Copilot in my editor but I can’t really think of a reason I’d need it in my terminal. Most of my time in the terminal is just installing things, git or moving things around and I have all those commands down as muscle memory.
I don’t know who you were talking to but I live in downtown Ottawa and it was absolutely a million times worse than any sporting event. I’m guessing your friends live in the suburbs, where the most they might have seen were some flag waving pickup trucks.
I was harassed the minute I walked out my door, there was literal shit covering the sidewalks, emergency vehicles blocked, businesses vandalised. The city basically shut down for 3-4 weeks. I know people who had to leave their homes to live with their family outside of downtown out of fear. People were physically attacked for wearing masks for fuck sakes.
Ottawa Police did absolutely nothing to stop it and Doug Ford declared a state of emergency but then pretended it wasn’t happening. The only thing that ended it all was the federal emergency act. I don’t like that it needed to be used either but the two lower levels of power completely failed
Does it actually make sense to call it free nginx? It seems like that’d just cause confusion, especially if the projects diverge. Most of the time when this happens they choose a new name (like MariaDB vs MySQL)
That being said, I wish the project all the best. I use nginx both professionally and personally so I’ll be keeping an eye on this.

We get a lot of sequels in the gaming world, and a common criticism is when a series isn’t really innovating enough. We’re given an open world game that takes 40 hours, with DLC stretching it out 20 more, and see a sequel releasing that cut out it’s late 30 hours because players were already getting bored....
Kind of applies to the souls series. I’d be happy with any of the games being re-released with only new levels added. I just wanna slap monsters with a sword in beautiful castles
