Soju is the same thing as what we used to call “fortified” wine like Great White. It lures you in with 20% alcohol being sneaky enough to not immediately buzz you like liquor which then lowers your guard until suddenly you’re black-out drunk singing 80s Nami songs in the nearest noraebang. OH YEONG WON HAN CHINGU! OH HAENGBOK HAN MAEUM! OH JEUL GEO EUN INSAENG! YEAH!
Your average shoebox is 35X23.5X13.5 cm, or 11103.75 cubic centimeters. The density of gold is 19.3 g/cm^3. You can fit 11103.75X19.3 = 214302 grams of gold in a shoebox. One gram of gold right now is $77.78 US. That’s 214302X77.78 = over 16.5 million US. There are things significantly more valuable (but not more fungible) than gold, too. The Pi million pill is completely moot. Or just take both, I guess.
Smaller quantities shouldn’t be too hard to sell. 16.5 million worth would definitely be a bit of a logistical problem. I’m sure a bank would help you out with an amount that large.
Radler has recently made its way to Korea. I bought some once not knowing what it was. While drinking, I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t getting a buzz. I thoroughly checked the can and found out it’s got 2-3% alcohol. Needless to say, I haven’t bought it since.
I am not bad with computers and have a beginner+, maybe intermediate level knowledge of Linux and I kept running into some problems here and there with different distros. I’m using a 2060 with Mint with no problems. Well, short of the game I’m playing (Enshrouded) needing to validate its install every single time I open Steam, but I suspect that’s on Steam.
So, my work machine was getting long in the tooth. Occasionally not booting and requiring me to jiggle memory sticks or tighten CPU cooler screws. It was a DDR3 machine with a Xeon E3 1230V2 with 8gb of RAM (and oddly enough an RTX 2060.) The fans were getting pretty loud, too....
So I’m discovering! I might just have to install Linux on my home machine, but I’ve been running Windows for so long, I really worry I’m going to break something in that case. I also do a lot of audio production with that machine, and software compatibility might end up being a big problem.
That’s good to know. I suppose most of us not knowing this is a good indicator of the average age around here. I think the last time I installed Windows from scratch was 7…
I used to regularly mangle candles with paper clips I would heat up in the flame and then use to skewer them. There’s something super cathartic about just melting the fuck out of things.
For fun, we just tried to kill the guy in the image. He’s supposed to be one of the most powerful wizards in the entire world or something. Surprisingly, we succeeded. It was only his simulacrum. The attention to detail in this game is amazing.
Yeah, there are any number of “But so-and-so did it so much better than the Beatles!” instances, but the thing is that so-and-so wouldn’t have even tried if the Beatles hadn’t done it first.
Take or leave their music, there’s no denying the massive influence they had.
I highly suspect it comes out the other end shortly after being ingested. Unless there are rules against that or something. Somehow, I feel like the mayo-eating professionals aren’t exactly well regulated.
The Star Wars universe doesn’t make much sense spatially anyway. Locations are as close or as far apart as the plot requires, sometimes ridiculously so, and never more or less.
Ignoring the lack of updates if the game is buggy, games back then were also more focused on quality and make gamers replay the game with unlockable features based on skills, not money. I can’t count the number of times I played Metal Gear Solid games over and over to unlock new features playing the hardest difficulty and with...
Exactly. If people missed playing those games so much, they’d be playing those games. NES games are trivial to emulate.
And this is the ultimate in survivorship bias. Super Mario 3 is often touted as the best game of an entire generation. There are a lot of mediocre NES games.
If they’re anything like the ones in Korea, they hire someone to be there during busy times, and whenever someone wants to cross, the person steps out with the flag and stops traffic. Usually in school zones.
I installed NetGuard about a month ago and blocked all internet to apps, unless they’re on a whitelist. Does anyone know when this became a thing?...
The Talos Principle 2. It’s a cerebral, first person puzzle game by the makers of Serious Sam. The first one was amazing! One of my favorite games. The reviews make it sound like this one is at least just as good. It’s not even that old and already 40% off.
What have you all been playing! Still on my usual binding of Isaac and helldivers grind, but I’m also getting back into elden ring to get ready for the dlc coming later this year! 🤩
Metroid Dread, Stardew Valley, and Baldur’s Gate 3.
The former on Yuzu’s last build on a nice 32 inch monitor with a big controller that doesn’t cramp up my hands. It’s pretty hard, but I did just get past a part I hear a lot of people quit on, so there’s that. I can’t imagine trying to play it with Joycons. I’d probably snap them in half.
My favorite games are Omori, Disco Elysium and Outer Wilds. I cried for hours at the end of those games, and I think the common point in them is high-quality emotional writing and stellar OST (music really affect me) and my attachment to the characters....
Can’t recommend that one without also recommending Ico and especially Shadow of the Colossus before it. Shadow of the Colossus may be my favorite gave ever even. It’s so good. I really wish Sony would release all three on PC or something. I still haven’t played The Last Guardian because the last Playstation I owned was a PS3.
I had a dream a few nights ago. I was a robot living in a society being taken over by this evil regime that was turning robots into humans. The leader of the regime lured me to the location where they were going to make me human. When he was dramatically revealed from behind the curtain - a split second after I realized I’d been tricked - he started towards me, and I kicked him in the junk as hard as I could!
Which was when I woke myself and my wife up because I’d kicked the shit out of the wall next to the bed. My big toe still hurts.
