Rentlar,

People aren’t starving in Gaza. You don’t need food if you’re dead.

Rentlar,

Bear-hug all you like Biden, but just take away Netanyahu’s toys.

Rentlar,

You don’t really need our permission to do that.

User is not in the Install_Linuxers file. This incident will be reported.

Rentlar,

Depends on what you want to do. For most general uses, Linux is stable af.

Unlike Windows, Linux doesn’t really try to stop you from doing much when it comes to customization, scripting and tinkering, the only limitations are your abilities and how well you can find proper information on the internet. The more exotic sort of thing you try to do the more likely you may inadvertently break something. That said, have fun with it, try the live distro, then dual booting first, and if you do break something you can easily reinstall, until you’re ready to move fully.

Rentlar,

Greta Thunberg is the next generation of Bernie Sanders. Protect and cherish her.

Uh huh, this is the right thing to do, is it? Including provisions to give your special client 30 more days than normal to collect and 30 more days on top of that to disburse to Carroll should the appeal fail.

Rentlar,

When I saw Mike Johnson and ‘resignation’ in the same sentence I got a little excited but it was just Ken Buck, which I’d heard reported earlier that didn’t beat around the bush.

Rentlar,

My back-of-the-napkin suggestion is just make everything broken but Helldivers themselves more fragile. Give the breaker more time between shots.

Rentlar,

A big factor that made this game a hit was the fact I could actually play it, i.e. it’s available on PC. :P

Rentlar,

Someone that enjoys playing in teams and strategizing together would be a good fit for this game. It’s very good fun with friends and decent fun with randos at the right level. If you can laugh off someone TKing the whole party and themselves by accident then you’ll have no trouble enjoying it.

Rentlar,

Generally if you are under Difficulty Level 6 people don’t get cheesed. If you were in my squad and you did the stupidest things that could possibly be done by accident or a bit of trolling, I can still finish a level 4 mission no problem.

A handful people have the game sound playing through their open mic (default setting) which is annoying to me.

Level 6 and up take actual coordination, so some players don’t like it if you don’t bring all the “right” stuff and kick people which is a little toxic.

By and large people are cooperative. There’s no incentive to sabotage the team anyway.

Rentlar,

If you replace the defective parts with OEM replacement if they are available, then you haven’t modded it but repaired it. Even if you use 3rd party aftermarket parts, might be modding but functionally it’s unmodded. It’s only if there are extra lights, buttons, major visual component or a modification in software behaviour is when I’d consider the console functionally modded.

Rentlar,

Moms for Baby-rearing slavery? With the various Christian Evangelist Fundamentalist “wins” in the last few years, hopefully it gets clearer and clearer that these issues are increasingly difficult to de-couple from the current Republican Party.

Rentlar,

Pre-order your pair of Shoe-lianis for just $299 + shipping!

Rentlar,

Probably asked AI to put together the shopping list for the event.

Rentlar,

Would we even be a proper link aggregator site without comments that belong in an encyclopedia of filth? This is just the foreword…

Rentlar,

He put up a pair of Limited Edition gold colour shoes as collateral for the bond.

Rentlar,

Andrew Wilson had some bots, EA AI O.

That line right there is comedic journalism gold.

I released my first game on Steam and got rid of impostor syndrome!

My first game Mushy Score is out on Steam! I have been creating games since I was a child but never felt like a real game dev. Now I finally have a game that I can show to other people.

Mushy Score is a 2D Roguelike where you fight against endless waves of enemies. Collect points and try to get a high score! I am super exited for the release !

If you like similar games go check it out: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2480740/Mushy_Score/

Rentlar,

Hooray and congratulations! That’s quite an accomplishment.

Rentlar,

Eradicate missions balanced

The medal farming mission got nerfed RIP

Rentlar,

This is an excellent demonstration of why you want to be very careful around large capacitors even if they haven’t been powered up for a while.

Rentlar,

Might be because it was in the 3rd bullet of OP’s body text.

Rentlar,

Right on, Canada! Who knows, we might be the U.S.'s guinea pig to measure the reaction to any change that might help Gaza.

  • Rentlar,

Was a Lemmy post shitting on Yuzu part of the settlement with Nintendo?

    Rentlar,

Justice moves slowly in Canada, but it moves. May the Drug User Liberation Front see their mission through.

    Rentlar,

I hope the former Yuzu developers can coalesce into one or two projects and continue their work on a completely different project like Suyu, with other repos syncing to it in case it gets taken down later.

    Rentlar,

Yes, I jest, only in hopes that the other projects are “completely different” for the purposes of the lawsuit and settlement.

    Rentlar,

Yeah, my friend group found the kb/m control was RMB and MMB together for ADS.

Interestingly the controls and control type (Tap/Hold/Press/Release) are very customizable which is another awesome thing.

Asking for a Linux (or non-Windows) laptop during a job interview?

I’m interviewing for a software dev job currently (it’s in the initial stages). If things work out, I’d absolutely prefer a work laptop with Linux installed (I personally use PopOS but any distro will do), a Mac will be second choice, but I absolutely cannot tolerate Windows, I abhor it, I hate it… (If all computers left...

    Rentlar,

I agree it’s more about who, when and how you ask than the ask itself.

    Rentlar, (edited )

May he enjoy his eternal rest and I offer condolences to his relatives. He played an important part in Canada’s history but I’ll be frank, this news made my afternoon!

He was the Thatcher/Reagan of Canada, kick-starting the sell-off of Canadian national treasures to private interests.

I’m especially bitter about Via Rail having half of routes cut in 1989. Via and the intercity rail network has not even been close to recovering over 35 years since then.

There was even a Vancouver Island service! A Nova Scotia service! A Canada that could have been is what I’m mourning more for.

    Rentlar,

    “You don’t knooooowwww!”

    You don’t know you’re beautiful?

With this news, I’m glad a US official has come out with statistics within their position’s capacity. Unless the US Defense Secretary is magically Hamas now.

    Rentlar,

I agree with the others, solo queue medium (or one level above) is a nicely paced cooperative mode where you don’t have to do much more than loosely co-ordinate (by pinging map) and it’s a lot of fun. On harder difficulties you have to make sure your team is organized with complementary loadouts, etc. but rewards are better, way easier to rely on your team when you know them.

Map showing the path of totality of the solar eclipse in Canada on April 8, 2024 (www.asc-csa.gc.ca)

On April 8, 2024, a spectacular and rare celestial event is set to unfold over Canada, the United States and Mexico – a total solar eclipse. As the Moon aligns perfectly between Earth and the Sun, temporary darkness will sweep across parts of the country, captivating countless spectators.

    Rentlar,

Luckily you could experience the total solar eclipse as close as in Hamilton.

    Rentlar,

    Absolutely correct.

    Rentlar,

The Australian Jewish Association posting a picture like the one in the post kind of implicates Jews at large if such actions aren’t widely condemned and taken back, even if it seems anti-Semitic to do so.

That said there are many Jews that advocate for peace and to end this violence.

Just one example of many: www.jewishvoiceforpeace.org

Unfortunately it’s overshadowed by a massive suppression campaign all over the world to hide voices of protest and justify the occupation.

    Rentlar,

Thanks. I am willing to risk religious people of all stripes to downvote me for saying it, not that points matter.

    Rentlar,

That’s a fair question. Sign onto the open letters produced by various peace and humanitarian organizations.

Put out advertisements and advocacy in support of a ceasefire. Pressure local, state/provincial, federal governments to restrict your nation’s support to the Israeli government. Push local and national theistic organizations co-ordinate a message for peace and compassion for the displaced and hungry, end violence and bring aid to their fellow Palestinian Semite.

www.jewishvoiceforpeace.org I do believe the large majority of Jews worldwide care for peace and humanitarian compassion. They should be upset and revolt at letting the current Israeli government tarnish their culture and religion in vain, at the cost of thousands of innocent lives. They should support BDS (and in Canada)

We do need to separate the anger towards Israel with anything with Judaism. The issue is that Israeli government, various Israeli organizations and the most moral army in the world are tying themselves to Judaism to excuse heinous acts of violence.

    Rentlar,

Humbly, I disagree. The U.S. Department of State has been in lock-step with Netanyahu’s wants and needs to conduct this genocide. It has vetoed a ceasefire resolution multiple times. American uniforms, American vehicles, American arms are delivered to and used by the IDF. Domestic pressure in the US will have an effect.

Restricting deliveries of such tools to conduct genocide will hamper Netanyahu’s ability to conduct the mission, which can be advocated for by people and organizations anywhere.

Other countries, including Canada believing every damn word coming from the IDF without question while being slow to corroborate other information is something that needs to change. Cities like Chicago have come out with an official stance in support of Palestine, other cities can too.

If we care for a rules-based order in the world, if the majority of a religion’s followers believe in the compassionate core of their religion, we can show it, even if it wouldn’t materially affect how Netanyahu conducts his genocide.

    Rentlar,

You’re correct, but that’s the crux of the problem.

Rank and file members of a religion need to come out against right-wing groups like the AJA that appropriate and hide behind the name of a religion to excuse being awful people. Otherwise they will use passages like the one I highlight to say this is what the religion really is about, which it isn’t.

This is applicable to Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Buddhism and other religions just as much as Judaism.

    Rentlar,

This will have an effect (in stopping Israel’s actions).

I can edit it to more directly address how to stop it if this satisfies you, but continuing a conversation of the particular words I use or do not will not be productive for either of us. Thank you for the conversation.

    Rentlar,

Hey, I agree with you my comment was a bit bigoted. This comment was half-written in the context of being a Lemmy Shitpost, but it has spawned a chain of genuine discussion.

The important thing is to separate the hate for what Israel is doing from Jewish people in general. (Same with Palestinians, Hamas and Islam)

Anti-Semites and Nazis, Islamic fundamentalists, the Israeli government, the Australian Jewish Association all try to fuse the two together to justify violence.

    Rentlar,

I have the same issue with Hamas vs. Palestinians, yes. There was one Hamas official’s comment of “It’s going to be October 7th again and again until Israel is destroyed.” and likewise there are religious texts of eliminating all people of non-Islam belief to back radical and harmful views just like the Torah example in my top-level comment.

Instead we need to give the voice to both Jewish and Islamic voices that express peace, compassion for one another and an end to violence.

    Rentlar,

Ah yes, and at some point we will look back fondly at the Jemes, and say “those were the days…”
