Are you actually a good person, or are you only good when you’re being observed by people who’d judge you for being your true self. This is literally the same thing as “Santa knows if you’ve been good” and “God knows what’s in your heart.”

These kinds of people actually need an invisible, omnipresent judge to keep them from committing atrocities. They’re the people who, in a supernatural disaster movie, are the ones who turn to human sacrifice to try and appease whatever horrible thing is rampaging around outside or the alleged god who’s doing nothing to stop it.

Everybody has a bias. Some just hide or try to remove it more than others. Faux News was built from the ground up explicitly to be the GOP’s propaganda mill, and MSNBC has a clear liberal bias. Ground News at least tells you where the bias leans. There’s been data published on bias - how much and what kind - for ages. The idea of impartial news was only around for a few decades in the 20th century. Now it’s a largely baseless claim. But if you look at news print media from, say, the late 1800s through early 1900s you can see the bias clear as day.

3-4 beers isn’t even enough for me to get tipsy, much less drunk. I literally can’t understand how people get drunk off beer. I can drink the stuff until I’m literally full and just get nicely buzzed at best no matter how strong they make it. Which is fine, I prefer sweet stuff anyway. Mixed drinks and shots can actually get the job done on the rare occasion I actually feel like getting drunk.

By 2100 (if we’re still here) we could potentially have people 150 fucking years old or more in politics that started at 30. I know I am. I mean it it’s not like I would vote for any Republican because I have yet to see one that lines up with my philosophy. And since we have a shitty to party system, I can’t reasonably expect to be able to have a voice by voting for anybody else, so I have no choice but to compromise by voting for the lesser of two bastards. We seriously need ranked voting in this country so badly. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s so much better than what we’re doing now.

I quit Facebook in 2016 and never looked back. Hard to believe how long ago that was already. But if they want to end Lower Decks after season 5, it makes perfect sense and I’m all for it. He can’t get most normal jobs. Every job application has a part where you have to admit if you’re a felon and then do background checks.
